IBM are amazing
Review of ThinkCentre A35 8139 - Celeron D 330 2.66 GHz by
Conteo
Advantages: Amazing Spec for Price
Disadvantages: not the best looker
I have know that IBM have been a good reliable make for a while now, but this PC is amazing. The spec that you get for the money is good and in general the PC feels fast, amazing for your day to day tasks, such as word processing and basic picture editing. I personnally use it for programming, and makes light work with VB. With any IBM product this feels study and doesnt look like its going to break with time. I love the monitor. The only downside ...

IBM PC 300GL easy to upgrade
Review of IBM PC 300 GL PII 333 MHz by
richardcatling777
Advantages: Interchangeable processors
Disadvantages: Its a desktop
The IBM PC 300GL was origionaly made for the business sector.
The higher spec machine similar to the 300GL was the 300PL which some had AGP graphics and LAN comunications support.
This was the lower spec of the two machines but still there wasn't alot of difference.
If you wanted to have better graphics or LAN support you could fit a PCI graphics card or an extra LAN card.
Many motherboards of this spec had at least 4 PCI slots and for this machine ... ...look on the Intel / IBM website for a motherboard manual.
Another thing was that missing AGP slot. I couldn't play the games i wanted. The better spec 300PL had the AGP slot and a better graphics card could boost my gaming performance.
My machine came with Windows 98 but i soon upgraded to Windows XP and it could handle it very well especially fitted with a Pentium 3.
Overall quite a good package. ...

Review of ThinkCentre M50 8189 - P4 2.8 GHz by
tgrigg
Advantages: Robust, Reliable, Give out EXcellent Performance
Disadvantages: Could be a Little Cheape
I have brought load of these IBM PC's for my work, the specifcations of these are;
* Intel Pentium 4 3 GHz Processor
* 40 GB ATA-100 Hard Disk drive; DVD-ROM drive
* 512 MB of DDR SDRAM Memory
* Microsoft Windows XP Professional
They pretty good and robust you cant fault them as they are really reliable and they never seem to stop work or brake down. What is really good with these pc thats its really easy to get inside the pc as you need no ... ...screw on this case. All you to do is push catch in and then slide of the side panel its that easy.
The expansion slots that it has are, 4 x memory - DIMM 184-PIN which good loads of slot to keep ungrading your memory,
3 x PCI - three-quarter-length to add any extrax graphics card of usb ports or etc, 1 x AGP 8x - three-quarter-length to add in prowerfull graphics card, 1 x processor - Socket 478.
The interfaces that the pc can support are, 8 x ...

Perfectly competent corporate desktop
Review of IBM NetVista M42 8305 - P4 2.4 GHz by
dobieg
Advantages: Bread and butter, bog standard box, predictable and easy to deploy
Disadvantages: Not the lowest price for specification
...have come to expect from IBM of late; practical, quite nicely engineered, but again, the description of 'adequate' springs to mind.
They have obviously taken a leaf or two from the competition, virtually all of the internal components can be exchanged without having to revert to tools - the IBM standard has been retained, anything marked blue implies that it's for removing (In Compaq, it's green)
Depending on the model you buy, it comes with Windows ... ...In summary, well up to office tasks, but of limited interest to home users, but nonetheless well built, and will give many years faithful service.
My previous comparisons between IBM kit in general and Volvo remain unchallenged, it's capable, even a little sporty on occasions, but above all safe. ...

aptiva series
Review of IBM Aptiva 2158 - K6-2 450 MHz - 17" CRT by
watty52
Advantages: Ease of use and ease of initial setup
Disadvantages: could maybe be better with a real pentium in it - but I don't really know without changing it
...the purchase - Comet or IBM - I did have to have my printer replaced a Xerox xj6 with a cannon BJC2100 but that could be another op somewhere else sometime. The machine I bought has a Pentium 3 lookalike installed as standard and is fast enough for everthing I do which is mainly word processing and internet use with some paint and draw applications mainly design of proformas for work use. ...
