Apple iMac G3.. its clear
Review of Apple iMac Indigo - PPC G3 500 MHz - 15" CRT by
jossie
Advantages: Compact, user friendly and designer!
Disadvantages: Pricey and 'un-customisable'
...exclusivity... the fact that only Apple make them (as I'm aware).
P.S. I've never had to deal with customer support directly from Apple so dont know hoe good it is.. they're website is very good though with loads of info on their products, for current users and for customer support (upgrades, patches, faq's etc) ...

I work, rest, and play with my G4 400MHZ
Review of Apple Power Mac G4 - PPC G4 450 MHz by
Freelancealot
Advantages: User Friendly, less virus attacks!
Disadvantages: Expensive, no floppy
...HD with CD-ROM and an Apple 17" CRT Monitor (the one on tripod feet) over a year ago off E-bay. I love it so much I called him Albert!
I spent 10 years working on computers, starting on a Wang(!), and then progressing to pc 486's, etc. I finally saw the light when I went into Publishing, and used my first Apple Mac, a 6100/66. I've never turned back.
Not only are the G4s stylish to look at, they're practical too! I have never opened up a computer ... ...half use that! If you've seen Windows XP and liked it, you'll find the Apple OS a joy to use (it's my opinion ol' B Gates has been doing some thinking).
I run a Virtual Assistant business from home, and I use my Mac for work and for play. ...

Brilliant BRIO
Review of HP Brio BA410 - PIII 800 MHz by
Twigsby
Advantages: Cheap, fast, stable, AGP slot
Disadvantages: Limited upgrade potential
...* Scroll mouse * HP recovery CD, Drivers CD
* 3 year warranty – First year next business day onsite
There are plenty of variants that can be selected e.g. with or without Word, Celeron or PIII processors, with or without modem or LAN card etc etc.
I think the price is a bargain. For this kind of specification, I simply could not find a better priced PC. The nearest rival would be either some of the Fujitsu lines or the Maxdata - but these ... ...very nice touch is the HP system recovery CD. This allows you to restore the whole system to its original "out of the box" state in something like 30 minutes (remember to back up your data first) which will be a godsend for those of us in a habit of overloading their systems to the point that a fresh install is required.
The initial set up also has an HP diagnostic partition which is accessible on boot up. Again a nice touch, but of more limited ...

aptiva series
Review of IBM Aptiva 2158 - K6-2 450 MHz - 17" CRT by
watty52
Advantages: Ease of use and ease of initial setup
Disadvantages: could maybe be better with a real pentium in it - but I don't really know without changing it
...the purchase - Comet or IBM - I did have to have my printer replaced a Xerox xj6 with a cannon BJC2100 but that could be another op somewhere else sometime. The machine I bought has a Pentium 3 lookalike installed as standard and is fast enough for everthing I do which is mainly word processing and internet use with some paint and draw applications mainly design of proformas for work use. ...

IBM PC 300GL easy to upgrade
Review of IBM PC 300 GL PII 333 MHz by
richardcatling777
Advantages: Interchangeable processors
Disadvantages: Its a desktop
The IBM PC 300GL was origionaly made for the business sector.
The higher spec machine similar to the 300GL was the 300PL which some had AGP graphics and LAN comunications support.
This was the lower spec of the two machines but still there wasn't alot of difference.
If you wanted to have better graphics or LAN support you could fit a PCI graphics card or an extra LAN card.
Many motherboards of this spec had at least 4 PCI slots and for this machine ... ...look on the Intel / IBM website for a motherboard manual.
Another thing was that missing AGP slot. I couldn't play the games i wanted. The better spec 300PL had the AGP slot and a better graphics card could boost my gaming performance.
My machine came with Windows 98 but i soon upgraded to Windows XP and it could handle it very well especially fitted with a Pentium 3.
Overall quite a good package. ...
