Good Budget PC, but not for gaming!
Review of Dell Inspiron 530 - Pentium Dual Core E2140 1.6 GHz - 17" TFT by yatzue

Advantages: Good value, runs most common apps well
Disadvantages: Struggles with high intensity graphics apps and games

...nothing special here, quite typical Dell styling - neat and clean, but not particularly eye catching! Finally, high intensity programs such as professional design apps and games, this PC will simply not cope! Personally I would not recommend Dell for this as, having used a number of different models, come no where close to a custom built PC for the same price. ... Read review

Great little Pc
Review of Acer Veriton M460 - Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2 GHz by mop591

Advantages: High speeds
Disadvantages: Very bad graphics, not a gaming pc

This is a great pc for business. Its 2.2Ghx dual core cpu (4.4Ghx total speed) with a 2mb Cache combined with the 1GB of RAM provides a very fast, reliable machine able to cope with many demanding programs running at one time. It also comes with microsoft office 2007 and windows xp software included and with a 160GB hard drive to store all your data. Despite its power to cope with many programs it is very poor if you are looking for a gaming pc, ... Read review

My review on Acers
Review of Acer AcerPower FH - Pentium D 925 3 GHz by thedarkened

Advantages: Fast, reliable, good graphics, excellent motherboard, runs silently
Disadvantages: Sometimes expensive

...these computers are; my latest acer is a 3 year old notebook and it has only totally broken down once, and that was due to a hard drive failure. They also tend to react and output data very fast, with low waiting times for opening several applications, and the graphics of the computer are that which can withstand the power-hungry games of today's world, such as World Of Warcraft or Call Of Duty 4. Also, Acers generally tend to run quietly, without ...
...can leave both of my Acer computers running through the night and I still get a restful sleep without waking up to any annoying noises. The motherboard in Acers are excellent in my opinion. They are very easy to change components e.g. upgrading your RAM or adding a new graphics card. The components are clearly shown where to put in on the motherboards, generally with bold white writing or bold green writing, depending on the colour of your motherboard. ... Read review

Acer has aced on this one!
Review of Acer Aspire L5100 - Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2 GHz - 19" TFT by RoryGriffiths

Advantages: Everything you could want, particularly amazing multimedia handling.
Disadvantages: Gamers beware

The Acer Aspire L5100 is an economical, yet complete package for the everyday home computer user. Behind it's small, ultra-compact chassis lies a powerhouse in entertainment; the latest spec for modern home theatre, AMD LIVE!, boasts exceptional and smooth management of your multimedia, the main atrraction for me of this Acer product. It exudes elegance and chicness in an understated manner; it measures 25cm by 20cm by 6cm and looks fantastic. ...
...Gold Edition, Adobe Reader 7.0, Acer Empowering Technology, Microsoft Works 8.5, Norton Internet Security 2007 (90 days subscription), Acer Arcade Live, Microsoft Office 2007 (60 days trial). If you are not necessarily a gaming addict (top end games could be problematic as the graphics card is not supported by nvidia), but enjoy watching movies and listening to music, as well as using your computer for work, then you get all this through the exceptionally ... A sleek, stylish and space-saving design!
Review of Sony Vaio VGC-LA2 by Jetlaw

Advantages: Space-conscious design, easy plug-and-play setup, inbuilt webcam and microphone
Disadvantages: Tends to consume a lot of batteries with the keyboard and mouse.

I initially decided to purchase this computer as a basic gaming PC for my when I go on holiday in the UK. It takes up a reasonably small amount of desk space. The wireless keyboard and mouse tend to require hefty amounts of batteries, but this downside can be ignored due to the space saved without needing wires curling like a spaghetti junction around your workspace. The mouse and keyboard themselves are aesthetically pleasing, with the mouse having ...
...responsive keys. It looks sleek and stylish, with a widescreen, flat monitor with a fully functioning integrated VGA camera and microphone just above the screen. The monitor is exceptionally bright and crisp, the instruction manual stating that it uses X-Black technology. Further research revealed to me that X-Black is essentially an electronic display with an anti-reflective coating designed to reduce glare. This is extremely effective as I am ... Read review
