Nice machine, but standard spec ain't enough!
Review of Systemax Inspire 7392 - Athlon XP 2100+ 1.73 GHz - 17" CRT by
tomo1k
Advantages: Good build quality, excellent customer support - Can be customised
Disadvantages: Not enough memory as specified
These Systemax machines are well-built, and have plenty of space inside for future upgrades. The cables inside are very neatly tied away, which makes life a lot easier when you want to install a new video card or extra RAM.
USB ports are provided front and rear, which is essential now that USB memory sticks are becoming popular.
However, I'd strongly suggest that prospective customers get more RAM fitted than the standard spec. With the standard ... ...you definately don't get the best out of the powerful AMD Athlon XP processor.
Fortunately, Simply allow you to customise these machines and will happily fit almost any extra gizmos you want, or remove anything you don't think you need.
I customised my machine to 1GB of RAM and added a DVD-writer to the standard equipment, and the price for these improvements was very reasonable.
However, I did experience some trouble about 2 months into ownership ...

Compensation please
Review of Systemax Ascent 7370 - Athlon XP 2500+ 1.83 GHz - 19" CRT by
gogaTSV
Advantages: good value for money
Disadvantages: not build well
I got my Systemax 500mhz 64SDRAM machine in June 2000. By early August I started having some problems that neither Simply Tech support nor their engineers could explain. I had to return my PC. After 10 days I got it back with a note saying that there was nothing wrong with it and that it had undergone vigorous checks. However, as soon as I started working, the same problems started occuring. Yes, you guessed it, I sent it back again. Now, it took ... ...wrong with it, and sent it back to me.
Third time, four months later and probably 50 complains, Simply agreed to rebuild my PC.
I got my new PC at last, and everything seems fine. there are a few minor problems that I try not pay attention to. e.g. it doesn't play audio CDs, When I phoned up the tech support to ask why, they recommended I't return the machine to them for a check. I don't think I will. I have really had enough with this company.

apple mac
Review of Apple iMac Core 2 Duo 2.8 GHz - 24" TFT by
coneill3
Advantages: speed ,power,Design
Disadvantages: value for money
...were released. As soon as Apple released the updated Mac Pro in January, I picked one up. After using the iMac for so long, the Mac Pro was like a breath of fresh air. This machine is crazy fast. I loaded 10 GB of RAM into it and can pretty much have all my design apps open (mainly CS3) as well as run Parallels at the same time. I could never do this with the iMac. Overall, I'd recommend the Mac Pro to design professionals looking to run lots of ... ...You'll have to deal with the strange rebooting problem I mentioned above but I don't think it's a deal breaker. I've gotten around this by either shutting my machine down when I'm gone for long periods of time or setting the sleep cycle to never. It's not a great solution (I can't save electricity this way) but I think it's worth it for the power of this machine. ...

iMac beats PC for photo and video.
Review of Apple iMac Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz - 24" TFT by
Segedunum
Advantages: Brilliant screen, fast, runs Windows too
Disadvantages: Virtually none, but not good for DIY upgrades.
Introduction
I was walking through some wood on the Scottish Borders one day when we came across a cottage where we saw a Cavalier King Charles sitting on a chair in the sun, and a gentleman working on a computer. We got chatting about the dog (as we also have a Cavalier) and the conversation inevitable turn the his computer which happened to be an iMac 2.4GHz, 24" Core 2 Duo model being used for photography and graphics. The gentleman showed me ... ...me that I should give up my Windows PC and to switch to MAC for my main uses of photo and video. If I was really stuck, I was told that Mac could run any Windows programmes I needed on it.
My main intention was to leave the Windows PC for day to day use, and use the MAC PC for hobbies only - more of that later. However, a few weeks later, after looking at reviews and seeing the machine again, I took the plunge and bought the iMac - a decision I ...

ML350 *brilliant*
Review of HP ProLiant ML350 G5 Base - Dual-Core Xeon 5130 2 GHz by
boaler88
Advantages: Lots of storage great upgrade capacity.
Disadvantages: requires a professional to install correctly
HP ML350 are very very excellent servers.
these machines are very reliable and very fast, and widely used in many businesses across the UK
they tend to run best with Windows SBS loaded as the operating system.
with 5 hard drive bays you can have more than enough storage space for your company use. so you could have a maximum storage capacity of 5TB if you required it.
Dual intel Xeon capability.
Maximum RAM of 32GB if the G5 version of the ML350 ... ...a redundant Power supply into the server, it is a very good idea to purchase a redundant Power supply, this will keep your seerver Powered from a different wall socket if you primary Power supply should fail.
also with a onboard RAID controller allowing the user to setup redundancy on there data which comes in handy if the worst was to happen.
Problems with these server are very RARE.
absolute brilliant value for money and very Reliable, perfedt ...
