The Bees -Knees
Review of Sony VAIO M1 - Mobile Pentium 4 3.06 GHz - 15.4" by
sghawken
Advantages: More than just a PC
Disadvantages: The screen could be a little bigger
...different. To describe the Sony M-1 is kind of difficult it has an LCD screen that is fixed to the base unit; also attached to that base unit is a flop down keyboard, two very good speakers and a sub woofer. Fold the keyboard flat against the screen and you have a unit roughly 1 and ½ foot long by 7 inches deep.
When I first switched the PC on it went through the usual set up format that you go through with any windows operated PC. Once installed, ... ...screen, its fitted with the Sony X BLACK style screen, this makes dark colours look amazing, in fact everything looks great on it. The room that I have my PC in is frequently filled with sunlight and the screen seldom gets to the stage that I cannot see it.
The mouse is an optical one, so I can run it across almost anything. It responds a lot better than a standard mouse, a subject of consistent annoyance to me. Yes two years on and the mouse is ...

A sleek, stylish and space-saving design!
Review of Sony Vaio VGC-LA2 by
Jetlaw
Advantages: Space-conscious design, easy plug-and-play setup, inbuilt webcam and microphone
Disadvantages: Tends to consume a lot of batteries with the keyboard and mouse.
I initially decided to purchase this computer as a basic gaming PC for my when I go on holiday in the UK.
It takes up a reasonably small amount of desk space. The wireless keyboard and mouse tend to require hefty amounts of batteries, but this downside can be ignored due to the space saved without needing wires curling like a spaghetti junction around your workspace. The mouse and keyboard themselves are aesthetically pleasing, with the mouse having ... ...responsive keys.
It looks sleek and stylish, with a widescreen, flat monitor with a fully functioning integrated VGA camera and microphone just above the screen. The monitor is exceptionally bright and crisp, the instruction manual stating that it uses X-Black technology. Further research revealed to me that X-Black is essentially an electronic display with an anti-reflective coating designed to reduce glare. This is extremely effective as I am ...

SONY VAIO VGC-V3M
Review of Sony VAIO V3M - P4 3.2 GHz - 17" TFT by
williamrshore
Advantages: A really good computer, a media centre pc, so its perfect for anything
Disadvantages: none
I have one of these and have connected a Topfield TF5800 PVR to it, so now it has freeview. I have also connected a VCR and a PS2 to it.
This makes the ultimate machine, it is really fast and has enough storage for anything. I personally install on the D drive instead of the C drive. With the DVD recorder it makes it the ultimate machine in editing as i have linked my video camera to it , with this i have made many dvd's with menus - by using Click ... ...sliding panel the ports can easily be accessed, the electronic devices which have scart sockets can be connected but with the three colour cables, red, yellow and white. These then fit into an adaptor, this allows you to record the videos onto your computor then write them to DVD. So all your recorded videos from tv can now become dvd's.
Hope this helps ...

Sonys ripoffs have moved from PS2 to computers now
Review of Sony VAIO PCV-RZ504 - P4 3.4 GHz by
IG88
Advantages: Powerful
Disadvantages: Somewhat overpriced (Understatement)
...I can tell you this isn't anything special. 1 Year 'Limeted' Warranty. Ok. Doesn't sound to good, but as long as you stick stricktly to the rules you shouldbe OK.
And this brings us to the end of our review for this awfully overpriced PC. Sony sort yourself out. ...

warning - no spare parts
Review of Sony VAIO PCV-LX1 - PIII 1 GHz - 15" TFT by
janet.bourne
Advantages: great PC design
Disadvantages: you cant get hold of spare parts
This may apply to other sony vaio computers.
I was very happy with my vaio until the power supply broke.
We were outside the guarantee and were shocked to discover that if you dont have a warrenty you just cant get hold of spares.
Its a bit like some car manufacturers - The spares needed are of a different size to other machines and when you try and order the part direct from sony you are told that they will not supply it if you are not under ... ...over, but even then the sony soundcard would not fit so we had to get a new soundcard too.
If Id known how much trouble it was going to be i would of just bined it and bought a new desktop.
It wasnt cheep to buy and was good while it lasted, but if you decide to buy a vaio make sure you are willing to commit to a long term warrenty agreement or you could find yourself in the same fix. ...
