In these scary days of swine flu and dangerous diseases it's always good to make sure your surfaces at home are clean and germ free and a great product in this hygiene fight is Dettol surface cleaner. Dettol is the name of a commercial liquid antisceptic belonging to a product line of household products manufactured by Reckitt Benchiser. I'm not sure about anybody else but whenever I think of an antisceptic product, Dettol immediately comes to mind. This is probably why it's such a successful product.
The reason why I like this Dettol surface cleaner is that it's 99.9% effective and claims to kill that percentage of bacteria and viruses. When you read the back of the bottle you will see that it kills not only the FLu virus (strain H1N1), but also MRSA, Salmonella and E.Coli, all the really quite dangerous ones.
This Dettol comes in a plastic bottle with a spray mechanism at the top. THe liquid is clear and see through. What's great is that it's safe to use on surfaces where food is prepared which is the place where you really need to use it the most. I think it's probably safe because it is not actually a bleach. The product is really easy to use too which is nice.
You basically spray the liquid on the surfaces where you want it to go, spread it over evenly with a damp cloth and then leave it to dry. You don't even need to rinse it off afterwards which is nice, job done!
Dettol is safe for surfaces such as chopping boards, work tops, bins, etc but not recommended for windows, mirrors or the like. Remember though it is a poison so do take care not to ingest in any way.
A 750ml bottle costs just £1.75 which I think is a really good bargain as I do find that it lasts for ages. Do you bit to stop nasty diseases by buying Dettol!
