    Advantages Advantages Convenient to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Limited fragrances and expensive

~~ Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash Sytem ~~ I was intrigued last year when I learned of the introduction of Reckitt and Benckiser’s Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System, but it was the considerably high price tag of £9.99 that I found rather off-putting. However, several months ago I had the opportunity of making a half price purchase where I received the dispensing unit, a refill bottle of hand wash together with 3 x AAA Alkaline batteries and this review discusses my experience with using it. The Hand Wash System is available in five fragrances, namely “Cucumber Splash”, “Ginger and Original” ... more

Advantages Advantages The soap sensor dispenses the right amount of soap

Disadvantages Disadvantages The dispenser looks tacky and the soap is nasty

I’m a clean, neat and tidy person. I am a bit overly clean when it comes to washing my hands. I like to know my hands are clean, and fresh. I cannot abide sticky or messy hands. Caring for my own needs and my toddlers I have to wash my hands several times throughout the day. I prefer to use liquid soap, as I find it more hygienic and easier to use. I had seen the Dettol No-touch hand soap dispensers when they first came out and thought that they looked a bit cheap with the price being a bit too steep. I had avoided purchasing one of these units for that very reason. Another factor that put me ... more

Advantages Advantages Makes life a bit easier, looks more modern, nice smells

Disadvantages Disadvantages The whole idea behind it doesn't actually work! Refills can be expensive.

After seeing all of the adverts that have been plastered all over the tv, me (the sucker!) finally gave into Dettol and looked up how much this little gadget would be! After looking around I finally found it for just a fiver (£5) in Sainsburys ... "bargin!" I thought! And though there were a few different smells on offer (Cucumber Splash, Green Tea and Ginger) I went for Aloe Vera as it was the only one still on offer. Why pay a tenner if you can spend £5 less! You can also chose a clean, white look or the stainless steel version - what ever fits in with your deco I guess. So any way - here ... more

Advantages Advantages Good design, remains stable on flat surfaces, does what it says, antibac liquid leaves skin soft.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Your taps will need to be more modern styles with wings than standard twist dual types.

When I was growing up, my parents were fastidiously teaching me to be clean following reports of the local school toilets having no hot water, and thus being very unhygienic using coal tar soap and cold water after using the toilets. When my father joined a multinational company in the 1980's, he came home one day with a soap dispenser gadget called "DEB," which was basically a home designed glue-to-the-wall soap dispenser, similar to what you would find in professional areas like clinics, hospitals and much later in public loos and restaurants. The liquid soap was glossy with silver flecks ... more

Advantages Advantages A decent concept for a modern kitchen

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive ongoing and initial costs for what it is

Following on from Jen’s purchase of the Air Wick Freshmatic Automatic spray units for the bathroom her next gadget for the house was a Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System. The principle idea is that there is no need to press a soap pump dispenser as it detects movement and dispenses a small amount of soap ready for you to wash your hands. It seemed like a pretty simple concept, however one with major flaws, which I’ll get to shortly. As id been pleasantly surprised by the Air Wick product I was hoping for similar results with this Dettol one. What Do You Get? For £6 you get one of the dispensers ... more
