It is critical that the Juvenile skeleton is correctly identified, so that the analysis of human remains can be done! If you cannot identify the skeletal components in a Juvenile then it is impossible to establish the number of individuals present or to identify the age at death.

This book is specifically designed to deal with this problem. It is mainly aimed at professional people in the osteology area, however is also for those interested in the wider scientific areas.

The book is logically ordered and is fairly easy to navigate as it has an introduction to the text and a guide to the text at the beginning. I found this fairly easy to find the information I required from it.

The book goes over all the areas of a juvenile skeleton such as the growth of the skeleton, embryological development, the vertebral column, the pelvic girdle etc.

I found the book very informative on the whole subject area and a very good source of information. The book is very interesting and covers pretty much all you could want to know about Juvenile Osteology.

The book uses a lot of diagrams and labels, labelling different bones etc and I found this very useful to me, as I have to learn the bones for my degree.

I would say that this probably contains to much in depth for someone just interested in the area and isn't the easiest book to read from cover to cover. However if you read just bits you would be interested in it would be a good read.

I would recommend this book to anyone with an Osteology unit in their degree as I have found it very useful. It is also a recommended book on reading lists for Osteology!

Priced at around £55 this book I feel is very expensive! If you have that much money spare to spend on a book then I would say it would be a very good investment. If however you are a poor student like myself then I would advice you to find the book in a library or try to find it second hand as it is a very useful book!
