Advantages: These do save lives. Disadvantages: £20 ish - Same as a night out? Hair-do? Exactly!
OK, This review is on smoke alarms, this is the point where you stop reading, there is nothing interesting in these reviews, and something automatically stops you reading. Someone's kids will die this Christmas, makes you think doesn't it?
These ones by Aico, The company sounds Japanese, but actually they are from Shropshire. These alarms have all the advantages of a battery model, but are mains powered. These are also known as Hard wired smokedetectors. They are also fitted with a lithium battery as a back up, and this trickle charges from the mains, so you will never have to replace it.
There are different types of detector, these are of the ionisation variety, but that does not concern us. Just accept that they are suited for fast flaming fires, and that the vast majority of smoke alarms in the home are of this type ...
Advantages: Amazing customer service Disadvantages: The equipment isn't as hi tech as other places
So after having an eye test at D&A and being scared off by the prices, I booked myself into Optical Express which is where Andrew gets his contacts from. They are small, flat to the ceiling, and white so they do blend in. Still trying to find an excuse? OK then, you will find that a great number of Fire Services now provide and fit them completely free of charge! All you have to do is ring them to find out.
Ideally you should have one per floor, but if you only have one it should ...
