* Smoke Alarm alert, time to think! about Death! .

Advantages: These do save lives.
Disadvantages: £20 ish - Same as a night out? Hair-do? Exactly!

OK, This review is on smoke alarms, this is the point where you stop reading, there is nothing interesting in these reviews, and something automatically stops you reading. Someone's kids will die this Christmas, makes you think doesn't it? These ones by Aico, The company sounds Japanese, but actually they are from Shropshire. These alarms have all the advantages of a battery model, but are mains powered. These are also known as Hard wired smoke detectors. They are also fitted with a lithium battery as a back up, and this trickle charges from the mains, so you will never have to replace it. There are different types of detector, these are of the ionisation variety, but that does not concern us. Just accept that they are suited for fast flaming fires, and that the vast majority of smoke alarms in the home are of this type ...

Review of Aico Ei151TL Ionisation Smoke Detector

Optical amazing!

Advantages: Amazing customer service
Disadvantages: The equipment isn't as hi tech as other places

So after having an eye test at D&A and being scared off by the prices, I booked myself into Optical Express which is where Andrew gets his contacts from. The price of the eyetest was half the price of D&A (£15) to start with and if you purchased glasses afterwards then it would automatically be free. The eye test didn?t seem as hi-tech or extensive as D&A and nor did the equipment seem as up-to-date but the optician was friendly, made conversation and was just a genuinely nice guy and whats more important, the test results came back the same as they did at D&A; I need glasses and I have a stigmatism. The staff here are absolutely amazing and I can?t praise them highly enough. They were not only friendly and personal but they also couldn?t do enough to please me. There were four ladies in the shop and they were all helping me choose ...

Well - do you have one? . .

Advantages: Self contained. Cheap, Very reliable.
Disadvantages: Battery can be removed in some models.

I am talking about smoke alarms. If you don't have one, please don't stop reading, just ask yourself why not? Go on, I defy you to justify it! Still reading? - Good. Firstly just let me say that as a thirty year Fireman, I have seen the result of people not having smoke alarms, and will have those memories forever. Until fairly recently, they were not readily available, but that is not the case now. If you go to any local superstore, you will find them for just a few pounds, and fitting is a doddle. They are small, flat to the ceiling, and white so they do blend in. Still trying to find an excuse? OK then, you will find that a great number of Fire Services now provide and fit them completely free of charge! All you have to do is ring them to find out. Ideally you should have one per floor, but if you only have one it should ...
