Diet Pepsi

As an avid coke drinker I like to call myself a bit of an expert when it comes to the taste and drinkability of coke type drinks. My favourite coke drink is actually Coca Cola and I prefer to by the boxes of the cans. Not only are they doing a long term promotion where you can collect Coke points and for this then exchange them for prizes but the cans themselves seem to keep the coke the right temperature and keep the fizz better than a large plastic bottle.

This said drinking cans at home often works out far more expensive per glass than drinking the coke out of a bottle and because I am watching the pennies to save for a new house I have been branching out and trying any brand in any form it comes. So because the large 2 litre bottles of Pepsi were on offer in Morrison's the other week at 99 pence for a bottle I decided to stock up and thus save myself a fair bit by not buying the boxes of the cans which are usually on a special offer but still work out far more expensive than a bottle of this Pepsi would do.

The design of the bottle for Pepsi is more or less what it has been for years and instantly you can recognise it as the brand. The plastic bottle has a relatively easy to open screw cap which must be replaced tightly otherwise the fizz from the coke will be lost pretty quickly. The bottle fits well into my fridge either in the door or laying down on one of the shelves.

The Pepsi cola looks just like any other cola in the fact that it is a very deep brown colour and as soon as you pour a bit from the bottle you can see the ton of bubbles which the cola has inside it. I would say that Pepsi seems to be a little fizzier than its competitors because you have to tilt the glass and pour very slowly to allow for easy pouring otherwise the cola fizzes up and you have to wait for the bubbles to subside before pouring any more otherwise the cola will spill everywhere.

The taste of the Pepsi is really rather nice. The diet Pepsi or the Pepsi max is probably the one I would always opt for as drinking a fully loaded sugar content coke is not my idea of a good way to waste a ton of calories! However when comparing the diet to the max variety I can say that I much prefer the lesser sweet taste of the diet type. There is not too much fake sweetness going on with the diet compared to the max taste one and I find it just about the right sweetness. However when comparing the Pepsi Diet to the Coca Cola Diet I still find pepsi to have a much faker sweetness and all said I find it a less nicer taste.

The fizz is wonderful and it is most certainly a nice refreshing drink especially when served mice and cold. The Pepsi is a much better taking cola than a lot of the stores own brands but I’m not quite sure that it measures up to the real Coca Cola. I do however class this as my second favourite cola to drink and I am not too fussed about drinking this from cans or a bottle as the fizziness is great when getting it from a bottle.

All in all I can't say it is the best but it is most certainly up at the top as far as cola drinks go and for that reason I feel a score of 4 out of 5 stars is in order and a recommendation.
