When the one of the channel switches on the little television in our kitchen became dodgy - and after all it was about 25 years old - we decided to look for a new one and ended up at our local big Tesco superstore because the prices were cheaper. We were drawn to a range of small LCD televisions and at the time we thought that the Digilogic 15 inch television had one of the best pictures in the lower end of the price range. I had never heard of Digilogic but I now know that it is Tesco's own brand name for a range of electrical goods. We spoke to one of the sales people who said you could not go on the picture quality in the shop in making your choice as people fiddle with the controls(!) and as we were a bit afraid of buying a brand that we knew nothing about we opted for a slightly more expensive Bush model of the same size.

I prefer to keep my distance from anything to do with setting up electrical goods but my partner tells me that this Bush was pretty fiddly to set up. Even worse after a few days of a fairly indifferent picture and sound quality it gave up the ghost and packed up completely. So we took it back to Tescos, decided we didn't want another one, saw the Digilogic again with its excellent picture and decided to give it a try and get a refund for the difference in cost too.

We are now absolutely delighted with it and have had no problems at all with it. It has auto install and was really easy to set up. It is a silver 15 inch LCD flat screen television with Nicam stereo sound. When I saw it along side the others I thought it looks very slightly less modern and streamline but with it happily installed in the kitchen I never give this a thought. It sits on its little oval pedestal and the hand set control fits there quite tidily too. It does not do a huge range of different things but then we didn't need a television that did and the best thing about it, apart from its excellent picture and sound, is that it takes up so little room. We also have a motor caravan with a special little television for working off the battery as well as the electric but we have started to take the Digilogic instead because of the picture quality and size.

All the things it does not do are things that we don't need anyway - there is no headphone socket, no optical out, no parental lock, no digital tuner and it is not HD ready. It does have PC input and teletext but we don't bother with either. It is wall mountable too but ours just sits in the corner on a kitchen work top. The switches are on the top at the back. I find it easy to use with the remote control. It really is a budget set - even the Users manual looks as though it has just been run off on someone's home printer. However it is functional and if quality is defined as fit for purpose, then it is a quality product.

The television size is height 46 cm, width 36cm and visible screen size 38cm

We paid £169 for this television but I see they are on Tescos website today for £148 - in fact I wish I hadn't just looked that up!

Based on our experience of this set over about 6 or 7 months I would recommend it to anyone who wanted a small, cheap, reliable no frills LCD flat screen TV.
