The application of Photoshop is also supported by having a free CD enclosed in the mag. Camera mag that does it all.

Advantages: Comprehensive,informative, interesting
Disadvantages: Large format

...on the purchase of a digital camera, I was lucky enough to find this magazine. Although not directly aimed at those needing advice about the purchase of a camera, there is an excellent buyers guide (see section 6 below)and I was lucky enough to find their review of a camera I was interested in buying (the Canon Powershot A70). Now I have used the camera for some time, I would say their review was certainly very accurate in this case. Having bought ...
...pages of information, reviews etc, Digital Camera is reasonably priced at £4.99 monthly; subscription rates are considerably cheaper, and it is possible to elect for either cd or dvd editions (dvd subscription is slightly more expensive). The magazine has a larger than A4 format, (30cm x 27cm)which can make it difficult to manipulate (particularly in a confined space such as a bus or train). However, this does offer the staff the opportunity to present ...

Not practising what it preaches

Advantages: a few interesting tips and tricks
Disadvantages: presupposes possession of/familiarity with certain products, too many advertisements, not enough actual content

.0 CS, and rather than an out-and-out computer software review would have a slightly alternative angle, namely that a more digital photography centred review of the product. The magazine did, but unfortunately the review was a very superficial one ? only a few improvements are listed, presumably since there was only a very limited amount of time prior to going to print to look at the new product ? a half page review would otherwise have to be deemed to be inexcusable for such a major software release. Despite the title, ?BETTER Digital Photography?, which would imply that it is intended for people who have already made a foray into digital photography, the main focus of the magazine is on equipment (and mainly new digital cameras!) and the magazine is really, to a certain extent, little more than a buyer?s guide. Some readers might (like ...

Review of Better Digital Photography

Excellent all round magazine

Advantages: Low price, cover CDs, interesting and informative
Disadvantages: Ink off the magazine cover comes off on my fingers

I've tried a number of computer magazines and this is my favourite. Targetted towards the home user, this magazine is good for both novices and more experienced users. The cover price is great and the subscription price is even better! The magazine presents balanced reviews of the latest products and has a section devoted to its 'top ten' of different products including computers, printers, monitors, scanners and digital cameras. It also contains a number of workshops which guide you through popular computing stuff like building a new computer or getting the best from a digital camera. One of my favourite features of the magazine is the helpline which is usually about 12 pages dedicated to help readers with a wide variety of computer problems. Unlike other magazines with a similar price PC Advisor isn't overstuffed with hudreds ...

Shopping for Shopper

Advantages: Great Reviews, Useful Buyers Guide
Disadvantages: Too many advertisements.

Digital Camera Shopper is a monthly magazine brought to you by Future Publishing Ltd. It is a magazine aimed at those who are looking to buy a new camera or equipment. ~Package~ To help with this review I am going to use the October 2003 issue as an example. This magazine is A4 size with a glossy front cover usually with a picture of a camera on the front and has approximately 194 pages. The title ?Digital Camera Shopper? is always positioned in the top left hand corner of the magazine in white bold letters on a red background. The October 2003 issue, and proposed future issues, comes with a cover CD which includes useful demos and information (to be discussed later on). Digital Camera Shopper costs £3.99 and comes out around the 9th of every month. ~Where to Buy~ Digital Camera Shopper can be purchased from most good ...
