Canon EOS 400D
Review of Canon EOS 400D by montmorillonite

Advantages: Low cost entry to Digital SLR photography. Compatible with all Canon Ef and Ef-s lenses
Disadvantages: Manual exposure fiddly, Kit lens good for cost, but not high-quality

Review EOS 400d The canon 400D is a good camera - for the price it's a great camera. It's relatively compact; lightweight; comes with an adequate lens; has programmed settings for novices - like portrait and landscape modes; but also offers manual control of apertures, shutter speeds, white balance, ISO… so that the more experienced photographers can have fun and be a little more creative. One item to note if you are upgrading from a digital compact ...
...on newer, or more sophisticated Canon bodies, as your skill increases. If you have around £400 to spend on a digital SLR this is certainly one to consider. With this camera and a quality lens you should be able to produce images up to A3 size. For the price and for a first SLR I highly recommend it. ... Read review

Canon Digital IXUS 85 IS
Review of Canon Digital IXUS 85 IS by SIVJEY

Advantages: 10 mega pixel gives amazing quality of shots
Disadvantages: not very weather proof

The Canon Digital IXUS 85 IS is a phenominal camera, its zoom goes uo to 4x. It is also made from a light weight casing, making the whole camera weigh 130grams. This camera is amazing for capturing the most important moments in life, its has 10 mega pixels alowing it to take crips pictures of life time moments. Having a flash drive proves very useful as pictures can be transferred to your computer and viewed. Havingbought it at £220it was a bargain ... Read review

Canon IXUS 90 IS
Review of Canon Digital IXUS 90 IS by Ronnie_2008

Advantages: very stylish, great features, Good detail
Disadvantages: control system, scroll pad

Canons iconic box & circle design has literally been given the chop - the top and bottom corners of the meaty, metal IXUS 90 have been beveled for a now, not then, feel. Beneath the classy surface lurks some serious tech too. The 10 megapixel photos have beautifully crisp detail and vibrant yet realistic colours, the image stabilizer is excellent and the screen is a superb 3-incher. Red-Eye Correction quickly and easily removes red-eye in camera. ...
...shoot. Movie modes include Long Play (LP) for VGA (30fps) clips that use half the normal memory card space. Capture a gradual scene like a sunrise or blooming flowers for accelerated playback with Time Lapse movie. The face detection tech is one of my favorites of all, this will make sure you get the best out of you photos by auto setting optimum focus, exposure, flash & white balance. Alas, the control system is a mess, not helped by a directional ... Read review

Want something between a digital and an SLR?
Review of Canon PowerShot A640 by missc81

Advantages: Big LCD, Lots of functions, Easy to use
Disadvantages: Somewhat bulky for a digital, heavy battery usage

I bought this as an upgrade from my previous 5mp digital, and as i was taking a big leap price-wise i was careful to shop around for a good price and do my homework on it. I was definitely not disappointed in my choice, yes It's bulkier than your average digital camera but it would be hard to cram as many functions as this one has onto a small one. It's on the heavy side when loaded with batteries but that's to be expected, It feels good in your ...
...a wrist strap for extra security. I've got to admit, i take it everywhere with me! If you want to take quick and easy shots just pop it in auto mode, but if you want to play around and get the best out of your pictures there are a lot of modes and options to choose from. The scene mode is especially useful, you can easily flick through shooting modes such as underwater / night snapshot / snow / beach / fireworks. The kids & pets mode is great for ... Read review

40d is it worth the upgrade?
Review of Canon EOS 400D by jake169

Advantages: 3" screen, live view!!!, intergrated sensor cleaning
Disadvantages: low lcd resolution

Probably the best digital slr for the experienced user on the market. The only two things that are seperated from this camera from the 5D and 1 series cameras is a full frame sensor as well as more megapixels. The last camera made previous to this was the 30D. Lots of changes have been changed since that including a higher mega pixel count, a 3inch LCD screen, intergrated sensor cleaning, custom shooting modes and the most significant upgrade is ...
...with its new live view sensor. With all the new technology in the camera, you would expect it to be challenging to use. However a new style menu system as well as the camera settings being constantly shown at the bottom of the view finder as well as the lcd panel, makes it a very easy camera to use. Wether your just an amateur Photographer experimenting with the basic zones or an experienced user experimenting withe the creative zones. This camera ... Read review
