Promisses much, delivers little
Review of Olympus SP-570 UZ by
piloteer81
Advantages: long zoom, high resolution
Disadvantages: fails to deliver and very dissapointing
...in compact cameras like the Olympus SP-570 UZ, a certain amount of quality is lost in the image. But with the 12x Zoom on my Sony, this was hardly noticable and more than compensated with by the increased versatility.
However, the above is not true of the OlympusSP-570 UZ. In short I found the pictures to be soft and lacking depth. Even side by side with my Sony H2 which is a two year old camera, both at auto settings, the H2 won hands down.
It ... ...likes of the Olympus 410 costing less than the 570, it's even more difficult to justify choosing the Olympus 570 over a low end DSLR. If the Olympus was £75 cheaper it might be easier to recommend but there are plenty of bridge cameras out there that perform equally well. ...

High spec, low performance.
Review of Olympus µ[MJU:] 1010 by
thebigc1690
Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review
...you guys starting with the Olympus MJU 1010.
This Olympus camera comes in either silver or blue with a pink one to be added soon I believe, It looks good and feels good (if a bit light) in the hand but the actual using of the camera is very fiddly due to the small buttons and the dial being very small. The actual pictures produced by the camera varied dramatically depending on the settings used.
With a large 10.1 megapixels at your fingertips you ... ...poor light without the flash. Olympus prides themselves on this cameras 7x optical zoom but the truth is the zoom is not that good. The high megapixels allow you to zoom and crop creatively on your pc or laptop and if this is the camera you choose then I would suggest you stick to that option because once zoomed over half way this camera looses much of its picture quality and any movement is very apparent so the use of a tripod would be a necessity.

Sony Mavica CD500
Review of Sony Mavica MVC CD500 by
LavenderJack
Advantages: Excellent macro, good photo in all lighting conditions
Disadvantages: Bulky (by today's standards), expensive to buy
I've owned this camera for about four years. I bought it after reviewing other cameras in the same price bracket and although the first company I tried to buy it from told me it would be too heavy for a woman (it weighs about 1.5 lbs) I was going from a non-digital SLR that was much heavier. I have never regretted my decision to buy it. The functions are easy to understand and the convenient storage on a CD-RW makes transfer to the computer very ... ...very close photo of flower is a piece of cake. The results are truly professional. It will take a good photo in all light conditions with or without the flash and for really dark situations it has a projected light grid that shows where the centre of the screen is. I would thoroughly recommend it. ...

Wonderful Nikon D80
Review of Nikon D80 by
wilkinsgraham
Advantages: Takes most Nikon lenses, good controls, great picture quality.
Disadvantages: None really
...little biased. Ownership of several Nikon lenses decided the choice, and I wasn't disappointed.
It's easy to use or can be customised to suit exactly what you want.
Great results, and the built in flash isn't bad either.
Does everything that I need and a whole lot more besides.
If you've ever owned one of the AF film Nikons, most of the controls should be fairly instinctive.
I added the 17 - 80 AFS lens, which I use most of the time. The standard ...
