Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A200K
Review of Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A200K by richardfirth

Advantages: Relatively cheap, easy to use
Disadvantages: None yet

...some research decided on the Sony A200. As a step up from a pocket digital camera the difference is amazing, although I've not yet figured out all the setting and buttons you can pretty much just start clicking with this. I didn't even read the manual before starting to click and it worked fine, its pretty intuitive. All the pictures I've taken so far have turned out great, connecting them to a big TV you can see the difference with this and a standard ... Read review

Sony alpha A100
Review of Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A100W by DarkNights

Advantages: Stlish digital slr
Disadvantages: sony customer service

At first glance the sony alpha a100 feals slightyly plastickly, but this is partly due to the fact that the body itself is made out of plastic, never the less the sony a100 is a fantastic digital sslr for the first time photograhper. Although it is slightly dissapointing that sony has not made a vertical grip for this product, overall the smooth shiny feal to the sony alpha a100, feals nice, and the shutter button fits snugguly into your right hand, ...
...when i accidently smashed my sony alpha 3 days after purchasing it, i was devistated, but not to worry, i was soon on to sony, and was relieved that there was a set price of £114 but i had to forck out a lumply sum of £360 to get it fixed. There isnt realy a fixed price and the level of custumer service was dreadful. I would still recomend this camera to anyone intrested in purchasing a new camera, the sony a100 is already fighting with its competetris ... Read review

Sony DSC-R1: Who needs an SLR?
Review of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-R1 by jstephenson

Advantages: Picture quality, features, picture quality and picture quality
Disadvantages: Not really compact, accessories can be expensive.

This camera provides SLR quality without the risk of dust getting on to your sensor. The lens is loads better than any of the cheap ones with D-SLR kits and the zoom range is wider too. Kit lenses tend to be 18-55mm (= 28-80 35mm equiv) This one is 24-120 (35mm equiv.) The range of features is stunning too. You can hold an exposure and adjust the shutter aperture combination with the turn of a wheel and you can even pick an auto-focus point that ...
...zoom digitally twice the optical focal length (240mm 35mm equiv) with minimal loss of quality or if you are not using the full 10Mp you can set the zoom to go to the maximum possible without any loss of quality. This is the equivalent of taking a 10Mp image and cropping it to the Mp value in use ( so you get more magnification at 2Mp than you do at 7Mp) This is the nearest I have seen to a single camera that can replace a whole system and still ... Sony Mavica CD500
Review of Sony Mavica MVC CD500 by LavenderJack

Advantages: Excellent macro, good photo in all lighting conditions
Disadvantages: Bulky (by today's standards), expensive to buy

I've owned this camera for about four years. I bought it after reviewing other cameras in the same price bracket and although the first company I tried to buy it from told me it would be too heavy for a woman (it weighs about 1.5 lbs) I was going from a non-digital SLR that was much heavier. I have never regretted my decision to buy it. The functions are easy to understand and the convenient storage on a CD-RW makes transfer to the computer very ...
...very close photo of flower is a piece of cake. The results are truly professional. It will take a good photo in all light conditions with or without the flash and for really dark situations it has a projected light grid that shows where the centre of the screen is. I would thoroughly recommend it. ... Read review

Wonderful Nikon D80
Review of Nikon D80 by wilkinsgraham

Advantages: Takes most Nikon lenses, good controls, great picture quality.
Disadvantages: None really

...little biased. Ownership of several Nikon lenses decided the choice, and I wasn't disappointed. It's easy to use or can be customised to suit exactly what you want. Great results, and the built in flash isn't bad either. Does everything that I need and a whole lot more besides. If you've ever owned one of the AF film Nikons, most of the controls should be fairly instinctive. I added the 17 - 80 AFS lens, which I use most of the time. The standard ... Read review
