Brilliant camera - VALUE for money.
Review of Fujifilm FinePix S6500fd by
jch1990
Advantages: Cheap, light, superb zoom function, acts as a video camera, strong
Disadvantages: Few upgrades
I received this wonderful camera as a gift for Christmas in 2006. The camera has unleashed a passion within myself for photography - that's how much i like it.
The lightweight body and ease of use present me with little need to buy a smaller compact digital camera. The photos that are produced from the camera are professional quality, and one of mine has even made it onto a motor-journalist website when i was just 16 at the time.
The only problem ...

A VERY good starter camera
Review of Fujifilm FinePix S5000 by
andyhollingbery
Advantages: Easy to use and very competitively priced
Disadvantages: Small sensors limit creative uses
As a first digital camera you can't go far wrong with this one. It is easy to use and to learn with a detailed instruction book. This is NOT an SLR although it looks very similar. However, accessory wide angle and telephoto lenses are avaialble (at very reasonable prices) that screw into the filter thread. It is also possible to take short "movie" sequences and add sound comments to your pictures.
The camera is light and compact and hence slips ... ...Bearing in mind that this is only a 3 megapixel camera, it is quite capable of producing good A4 size prints.
The only disadvantage as far as I'm concerned is that the small sensor size limits the creative use of differntial focus techniques, but after owning a S5000 for 18 months I am now completely hooked on digital photography and am hoping to upgrade to an SLR shortly ...

Good body...with interesting features
Review of Fujifilm FinePix S5500 by
alba_celt
Advantages: some SLR qualities, convenient, cost effective, looks cool
Disadvantages: looks are deceiving , not as good as SLR
...as digital cameras go, the Fujifilm Finepix S5500 is pretty good quality, with the added bonus of having an SLR body. Anyone who has an SLR (Single Lens Reflex) and uses one often enough, knows that this is where things get disappointing. From a digital only point of view, the camera has a pretty good zoom quality, but BEWARE, if using the zoom feature, you absolutely must use a tripod, else the camera shake is so terrible (yes, even \'if\' you feel ... ...completely distorted. Zoom is best used in the video feature, but you must first have it set to zoom before starting the recording. My husband and i have had lots of fun with the camera on days out with the kids, and because it looks so cool, the kids can\'t wait to get their hands on it, though that\'s a once in a blue moon thing that they do. One fantastic feature that is akin to an SLR is the type of photos one can take, such as a child running ...

Excellent all round camera
Review of Fujifilm FinePix S6500fd by
brittty
Advantages: many features, very easy to use, AA battery powered, Good price
Disadvantages: Addtional memory card a must, Heavy and bulky
This delightful camera lies between the standard digital compact cameras and the digital SLR's. Basically somewhere between ametaur and professional.
At a fraction of the cost of a SLR camera it is a reasonable alternative for any self declared photographer.
The pictures produced are absolutely fantastic. Very clear and great colour definition. Although it may lack the pixels of other cameras you will not notice this unless you are planning on ... ...packed with addtional features such as adjustable shutter speed, numerous photograph options such as landscape, potrait, action, night and more. A built in flash which works extremely well even in pitch black. The video option is great for filimg wildlife and family a like. A brillant screen for instant delete for pictures you do not want to keep.
It takes AA batteries which means you don't have to hunt for a specific camera battery (which can be ...
