Olympus SP500UZ 10x zoom
Review of Olympus SP-500 UltraZoom by mickle026

Advantages: versatile for all users
Disadvantages: autofocus not good on dark subjects

I actually bought a reconditioned factory second of this product for £120 from an auction site in 2007 (unused) - bargain!. The picture quality is very good to excellent for the average/business user. I have found it very handy, light weight for the size and very easy to use. I found the menus quite easy to follow and experiment with. One major downside is that the autofocus struggles on dark colours/lower light conditions. It has a vast array of ...
...find useful especially the different modes for different subjects/colour scenes. A novice will also find these useful, and having the 'everything' auto is especially useful for those users - and my partner! - dropped a few times, still works well, still use it weekly - robust! Good batteries last very well ... Read review

A little gem
Review of Olympus CAMEDIA C 765 Ultra Zoom by jstephenson

Advantages: Excellent image quality, good zoom range, compact, versatile
Disadvantages: Can be slow to focuss at long zoom range, needs a wider lens

I have had this camera for over 2 years now and it is as I am looking to upgrade that I have realised just how good it is. The lens is superb. It does get a bit of purple fringing in extreme situations but it is still better than a lot of the more modern competition. Mine has suffered occasional (and accidental) rough treatment from time to time. I even have a crack in the frame around the edge of the view finder but it hasn't stopped it working ...
...or three of weeks inactivity (a rare event) it will have enough charge for a few photos. You do need a spare though if you are going to spend all day taking pictures. The only other drawbacks are the lack of a wide angle and it can be a bit slow focussing in poor light or if you are using all 1500mm (approx equivalent) of the digital zoom. It is a bit tricky to hand hold at this range as well. The wide angle adaptor is bulky and expensive (although ... Read review

More than your average compact...
Review of Olympus CAMEDIA C 750 Ultra Zoom by PhilThePenguin

Advantages: Many features, good zoom lens, powerful for the price
Disadvantages: Not very compact, only 4 Megapixels, no case as standard

I wanted a camera for all-round use, and this fits the bill perfectly. It's simple enough that I can just point-and-shoot holiday snaps, and the default 'automatic' setting produces good results in most situations. A powerful flash, self-timer and sport, low-light and landscape modes allow it to cope with just about all situations. The predominantly metal case means it's survived being thrown into a bag on several holidays with barely a scratch, ...
...the civilised world. At the same time though this has more features than a standard compact, and I have used it for much more artistic work. Here, the 10x optical zoom lens, flash shoe, remote control, macro mode and particularly the option to take some control over the aperture and shutter settings come into their own. The camera is not without its disadvantages, however. The powerful lens and solid build quality make it larger and heavier than ... Read review

Olympus CAMEDIA C 770 Ultra Zoom
Review of Olympus CAMEDIA C 770 Ultra Zoom by pares49

Advantages: Excellent Zoom, great quality pictures for a 4mp
Disadvantages: the menu is difficult to use to get the most out of the camera

An excellant camera for the more advanced and the beginner. This is as the camera can be used just with it's simpler functions and automatic functions. However it also has many manual functions for the advanced photographer to take the perfect picture. The 10x optical zoom is fantastic value for this camera as 10x in a realtively small camera really improves the range of pictures you can take. It's video mode also has a microphone sp you can take ...
...4mp is plenty to take very high quality pictures and at long distances with the 10x optical zoom, however the 4x digital zoom is very poor quality, as you would expect. Overall it is a reliable camera that produces very high quality pictures and as you get used to photography it has a wide range of additional and advanced features to enhance the picture taking process. ... Olympus is Poor Quality
Review of Olympus CAMEDIA C 700 Ultra Zoom by MichaelTate

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: poor quality poor repair customer service

...a big problem with an Olympus C70 Zoom - the camera lost 400+ of my holiday photos - it did not record onto the card even though the camera kept counting like it did. The problem was Olympus gave no service in relation to any explanation, or apology, or recomepnse, or refund etc - simply no contact all - old camera was returned - no new parts or anything. Olympus and the Dealer both washed their hands and i could not even discuss it with anyone- ... Read review
