Great camera!
Review of Canon PowerShot A650 IS by k8_web

Advantages: Flip screen to protect from scratches when not in use
Disadvantages: Takes 4 x AA batteries- a little bit bulky for me!

...results. I also own a Canon IXUS and although the IXUS range is much more compact and extremely good looking, I thought it natural to progress to something with a few more specs. It is fairly bulky, but to me this is partially a good thing as I kept on losing my IXUS! The larger lens is fantastic and it's a great bonus being able to remove it and replace with alternative ones (eg a wide angle lens). It's got loads of features and auto settings, ...
...previous experience of dealing with Canon cameras) is the flip screen on the back. It is a major asset to be able to swing out the screen and flip it over to protect it from scratches when not in use. The only downfall I can think of is that it takes 4 x AA batteries. With my last camera I was quite used to plugging in a battery pack before using it each time, assured that it would not run out of juice. Saying this, I haven't had enough exprience ... Read review

Digital Ixus 960 IS
Review of Canon Digital IXUS 960 IS by N01ExpertOpinion

Advantages: Image quality, face recognition, viewfinder, ease of use.
Disadvantages: 3.7 zoom, user guide.

...I bought the Canon Ixus 960 IS as a solution to taking a digital SLR, plus lenses etc. due to hand luggage restrictions as it easily fits in a pocket. The image quality is pin sharp, focussing exceptional and since I have problems with camera shake due to arthritis I was overjoyed to find that the image-stabiliser technology works really well, except in the very darkest of night shots (taken on the cruise ship's deck). Facial recognition works surprisingly ...
...The 3.7x zoom is the only real drawback, but it's a small enough niggle. In use I found it easy to swap between the different shooting modes, using the scene mode for most of my pictures. The 'aquarium' mode was especially useful for photographing fish fighting over bits of bread thrown to them by a restaurant owner in Elounda and the 'night scene' mode produced some excellent quality pics of my husband, sat across from me, at an outdoor restaurant. ... Sony
Review of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W300 by Justine82

Advantages: Picture quality
Disadvantages: Blurs around edges of large landscape pictures/ large groups of people.

...and because I trust the Sony brand however it didn't really meet my expectations. The shutter speed seems a bit slow which is a problem when I'm taking pictures of my 2 year old. I love the size because it fits in my purse and the pictures look really good when I print them. I was really disappointed that it didn't take an SD memory card because I had many of them from my old camera. Overall, if you are taking pictures of family and things like that ... Read review

Maximum detail with 12.0 Megapixel resolution
Review of Olympus FE-300 by iliande

Advantages: Perfect Shot Preview is a handy feature, Slim, light design
Disadvantages: Performance, poor picture quality, especially at high ISOs

Olympus FE-300 seems to have it all: 12 megapixel image sensor for producing large-format prints with incredible detail, face detection technology plus an impressively broad range from ISO 50 up to ISO 6400, alongside a standard 3x optical zoom and 2.5-inch, high resolution screen. The FE-300 is the slimmest compact camera in Olympus' ranks. Even if your subjects are moving, the camera continuously tracks your subjects' faces without having to press ...
...which was developed for the demanding performance of professional Digital SLR cameras. This mode lets you preview how your picture will look under four different EV compensation or white balance settings. If you shoot in awkward lighting, Perfect Shot Preview can really help you take a proper shot without a lot of trial-and-error or menu-hunting. You can even preview how movie clips will look at different quality settings and frame-rates, though ... Read review
