Sony Mavica CD500
Review of Sony Mavica MVC CD500 by LavenderJack

Advantages: Excellent macro, good photo in all lighting conditions
Disadvantages: Bulky (by today's standards), expensive to buy

I've owned this camera for about four years. I bought it after reviewing other cameras in the same price bracket and although the first company I tried to buy it from told me it would be too heavy for a woman (it weighs about 1.5 lbs) I was going from a non-digital SLR that was much heavier. I have never regretted my decision to buy it. The functions are easy to understand and the convenient storage on a CD-RW makes transfer to the computer very ...
...very close photo of flower is a piece of cake. The results are truly professional. It will take a good photo in all light conditions with or without the flash and for really dark situations it has a projected light grid that shows where the centre of the screen is. I would thoroughly recommend it. ... Read review

Wonderful Nikon D80
Review of Nikon D80 by wilkinsgraham

Advantages: Takes most Nikon lenses, good controls, great picture quality.
Disadvantages: None really

...little biased. Ownership of several Nikon lenses decided the choice, and I wasn't disappointed. It's easy to use or can be customised to suit exactly what you want. Great results, and the built in flash isn't bad either. Does everything that I need and a whole lot more besides. If you've ever owned one of the AF film Nikons, most of the controls should be fairly instinctive. I added the 17 - 80 AFS lens, which I use most of the time. The standard ... Read review

Great semi pro, or pro backup.
Review of Canon EOS 20D by stuf1982

Advantages: Light weight yet robust
Disadvantages: Small sensor limit's full 35mm lenses, slightly red cast.

I am a professional photographer and use a 20D as one of my backups. This is an excellent semi pro camera that is user friendly enough for any beginner. With image quality suitable for printing up to A2 from a RAW file. I would strongly recommend shooting in RAW wherever possible as the JPEG compression can be very limiting for post shoot editing and any image correction you may need to apply. To get the most out of the camera I would recommend ... Read review

Kodak easyshare V803
Review of Kodak EASYSHARE V803 by marcus1608

Advantages: good value for money, simple to use, supplied with editing software
Disadvantages: slightly bulkier and heavier than other similar cameras

...digital cameras and photography. The kodak easyshare V803 is laid out in ridiculously simple and easy to use format with less than ten buttons in total on the whole device. Although some basic editing may be done on the camera, it is supplied with a photoshop style software package for more complex editing tasks, picture viewing and sharing. The picture quality is the best which can be expected in this price range and this, coupled with almost endless ...
...be teamed up with matching kodak accesories in corresponding colours. However, the camera is rather to large to fit in a pocket without beeing a nuisance and the sound quality of the videos is not perfect, especially in windy conditions etc. Also, i have had a few problems with the software as it seems to change the format of the photos when you download them from camera to PC (i.e. no longer JPEG etc.) which creates problems when trying to upload ... Canon IXUS 50
Review of Canon Digital IXUS 50 by makro74

Advantages: Slim, small and sleak. Overall excellent picture quality.
Disadvantages: Not many, except possibly 'whiting' of blue sky

Intially going for the cybershot series from Sony, this range for its sleak and compact beauty stood out a mile. Given its 5m pixel, I bought 1GB memory and to date it gives excellent results. Whether, it is optical zoom, or darker conditions the lens is brilliant reproducing excellent colours. However, be careful on distance and flash as here it may need a bit of practice. Also, settings for glorious sunny days need to be adjusted since you often ...
...of the lens. Nevetheless, numerous people within my circles have seen and used the camera and assessed results, and we agree that an excellent all round camera which looks good too! In order to save memory some lower pixel resolutions can be used, and I was suprised at the picture quality. ... Read review
