This is the SLR for YOU!
Review of Nikon D40 by piratess2104

Advantages: Price, durability, ergonomic design, ease of use, good instructions!
Disadvantages: No memory card included. Argh.

...ISO also applies, and the Nikon Processing engine is the same as the D80 or the D200, with 420 pixel sensor on the 3D Color Matrix Metering. If this all sounds a bit beyond you, the camera ALSO offers lots of helpful and accessible functions like "in-camera retouching". This is just to help you improve your photos BEFORE you take them - the LCD monitor will tell you if your scene is too dark and you need to use the flash (I am so guilty of this). ...
...used across a variety of Nikon models - probably your current Nikon uses the same). I've read some pretty positive comments about the battery life - I would say average. HOWEVER, there is NO MEMORY CARD INCLUDED. I cannot stress this enough - it's the one big irritation in the specification. The camera is still definitely worth getting, but you do need to budget for a card (and probably if you buy this card you'll need a reasonably big one). The ... Read review

The SharpShooter is back !!! But is TOO SLOW .
Review of Nikon Coolpix P5100 by pallavi_171

Advantages: Sharp Images, Compact , Range of manual Controls, Grip
Disadvantages: Slow and Sluggish , Shutter Lag, Image Noise

---------------------------------------------- ~~~~~INTRODU CTION ~~~~~~ ---------------------------------------------- Ni kon P5100 (P standing for Performance ) is one of the latest in Nikon's Coolpix range. It is a 12.1 MP flagship digicam with SLR type features built in a beautifully designed compact frame. It is available at around 200 GBP though when I bought it, it was somewhere above 260 GBP with a few free ...
... DESIGN ~~~~~~ ---------------------------------------------- The body of P5100 is made from magnesium alloy. It comes in Black colour which probably is a tactic from the designers because on pictures it looks bigger than it is in reality . Infact it is a very compact camera , smaller than many superior zoom cameras and it offers alot of features which I dont think i would utilize in my lifespan !!!! It has a 1/1.72-inch CCD ... Easy to use and good results
Review of Nikon Coolpix 700 by MichelleScott

Advantages: ease of use; good on batteries; excellent pix; clear screen
Disadvantages: turns itself off too quickly (to save battery power)

We have had our Nikon Coolpix 700 for over a year. In that time we have taken hundreds and hundreds of photos. In the previous few years of using old-fashioned cameras, we had taken only 48 pictures! So the first advantage of a digital camera is that you do use it. We had heard that one of the drawbacks of digital cameras is that they eat batteries. We made sure that the Coolpix 700 used ordinary batteries rather than specialist camera batteries. ...
...hold of on a day out when your batteries run out. This uses simple AA batteries that can be purchased anywhere. We actually use rechargeable ones in ours most of the time and they are fine. The zoom is good - up to 2.5 times. It zooms quickly and noiselessly, which is a bonus if you are trying to capture wildlife. The screen at the back of the camera is excellent for viewing the photos and setting them up. You can work with this off, to save battery ... Read review

Diamond review   Solamarie's camera fun
Review of Nikon COOLPIX L1/L101 by solamarie

Advantages: Beautiful pictures, simple to use, so many different features
Disadvantages: I have just one little niggle.

...but comparing them to the Nikon I decided to change makes and hope for the best. What was I looking for? My last camera had 4 mega pixels so I wanted one with more than that, it also had a 3 x optical zoom lens so I wanted one with more of course. Olympus are known for good camera lenses so I wanted a camera with a good lens as well. What did I buy? A Nikon Coolpix L1 is what seemed to be the best value for money to me. This camera has 6.2 Mega ...
...zoom shoots wonderful pictures. The Nikon cameras of the past and future are well known for their quality lenses and professionalism of their photographs. I have looked at the Nikon Website and read a lot about lenses that I don't pretend to understand so have included the address in case anyone wants to look and learn. http://nikonimaging.com/global/technology/index.htm Features. The Coolpix L1 has loads of features that you can play with to ... Read review

All in all, well worth the money
Review of Nikon Coolpix P3 by immortal_jaz

Advantages: Wifi link to your pc - no cables needed!
Disadvantages: Limited optical zoom

At 8.1 megapixels this camera takes stunning photos. It has different settings like most digital cameras, and an auto-focus which can still be manually adjusted. Obviously, not for a pro photographer, but if you want really good personal pics, or are trying to take some decent photos for a project, this is definitely a good camera to have. It also takes videos, not a feature I've played around with extensively but they are of a good quality - as ...
...can't fit a whole lot of video on the space provided - even with a 1gb memory card it only records about 11 minutes of film, so if you want to use it as a video camera, invest in a good memory card (in case you were wondering, it takes SD cards). The camera doesn't come with a memory card, but has an internal memory big enough to store 15 photos. I invested in a 1gb card, which brings the total up to 247 - ample I think you'd agree. And this is ... Read review
