Canon EOS 400D
Review of Canon EOS 400D by
montmorillonite
Advantages: Low cost entry to Digital SLR photography. Compatible with all Canon Ef and Ef-s lenses
Disadvantages: Manual exposure fiddly, Kit lens good for cost, but not high-quality
Review EOS 400d
The canon 400D is a good camera - for the price it's a great camera. It's relatively compact; lightweight; comes with an adequate lens; has programmed settings for novices - like portrait and landscape modes; but also offers manual control of apertures, shutter speeds, white balance, ISO… so that the more experienced photographers can have fun and be a little more creative. One item to note if you are upgrading from a digital compact ... ...on newer, or more sophisticated Canon bodies, as your skill increases. If you have around £400 to spend on a digital SLR this is certainly one to consider. With this camera and a quality lens you should be able to produce images up to A3 size.
For the price and for a first SLR I highly recommend it. ...

Wonderful Nikon D80
Review of Nikon D80 by
wilkinsgraham
Advantages: Takes most Nikon lenses, good controls, great picture quality.
Disadvantages: None really
...little biased. Ownership of several Nikon lenses decided the choice, and I wasn't disappointed.
It's easy to use or can be customised to suit exactly what you want.
Great results, and the built in flash isn't bad either.
Does everything that I need and a whole lot more besides.
If you've ever owned one of the AF film Nikons, most of the controls should be fairly instinctive.
I added the 17 - 80 AFS lens, which I use most of the time. The standard ...

k100d - Great for starters and enthusiasts alike
Review of Pentax K100D by
aKarma
Advantages: Excellent Image Quality, Good shake reduction, Price, Ergonomics, Beginner friendly, Backwards compatibility
Disadvantages: Slower performance than other similar cameras
I've had this for just over half a year and loved every moment of it. Be aware as with any other SLR you will need a fair bit of money put aside for more lenses and accessories once the addiction starts kicking in.
Overview:
As well as being aimed at those wanting to move up into the dSLR market, the k100d is suited for those seeking slightly better ISO performance or a smaller body at an affordable price.
Features:
As well as the standard set ... ...offers multi-exposure bracketing, which is ideal if you intend to delve into HDR photography. I do find the menu system to be slight counter-intuitive but its possible to stay away from the menus most of the time, in normal use, unless you need to change ISO specifically. Image Quality:
Don't be put off by the 6 megapixel sensor as it offers better low light performance than other higher megapixel sensor and can still be enlarged easily to A4 size ...

Top-quality images and zoom at an affordable price
Review of Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 by
happydadtoo
Advantages: Lens; picture quality; price; durability; features; zoom range; weight
Disadvantages: Non-removable lens; battery life; discontinued :(
INTRODUCTION:
I have bought two of these cameras - one for myself and one for work (I am a semi-pro photographer at a major public school), so pleased was with my own camera.
The A2 was, in about 2003, just about the best of the 'prosumer' digital cameras available and won many awards. In the relentless cost-cutting that is so prevalent in this market, Minolta then kept the lens and image sensor, but cut the features and the price and renamed it ... ...is the better camera - no question!
I have read many internet reviews of this camera, SOME of which refer to 'purple fringing', which is a feature of the particular (Sony-made) image sensor used in this (and most other) 8Mp cameras. I can only report that I have scarely noticed it at all - whatever others may worry about, it is too small to get stressed over (and can easily be removed within Photoshop, anyway).
The other criticism I found in the ...

sacoyote
Advantages: Price, Auto function
Disadvantages: Flash
...Backwords compatibility with almost anny Pentax lens.
The shake reduction system actualy works, you can take photos with a 300mm zoom witout a tripod.
Cons.
Shutter noise is a bit loud.
Auto focus takes a bit long when taking fotos in low light.
There is no infra red to assist focusing.
The Flash assisted focusing in low light, is very irratating and your sybjects can thingk you have alreddy rtaken the photo.
Conclusion.
Wonderfull entry ...
