Following the Nikon Tradition
Review of Nikon D70 by
BlackCatProm
Advantages: well made, handles well, ease of use, multi-featured, reliable
Disadvantages: fiddly to change features until used to system
The Nikon D70 follows in the Nikon tradition. It is a digital camera that handles like the superb professional cameras its shape and features are based upon. The build quality and handling are superb. This is a camera that I, as a former photographer and still taking pics to sell, am happy to use and be confident it won't let me down. At the best quality setting, which I always use, using a 1Gb Flash Memory Card, it will porduce 291 images, all of ... ...plate film cameras.
The Nikon D70 gets me back to the tried and trusted 35mm camera format with many added plus facilities.
Once you get used to the system, you can change the film speed in seconds. The auto-focus can be set to the spot or area you chose, again in seconds, and works fast enough to keep up with shooting the 3 frames per second the D70 will keep up for as long as you are likely to ever need it. Just set to the action mode and keep ...

A true replacement for professional 35mm cameras
Review of Nikon D100 by
tomo1k
Advantages: Full control over all aspects of photography, True SLR, interchangable lenses, metal body
Disadvantages: Expensive! This camera is for pro and semi-pro photographers, not the amateurs!
...built-in flash (or Speedlight as Nikon call it), and well over a thousand if the flash is not used (using a CompactFlash card for storage - Microdrives require more power and reduce battery life accordingly)
The battery charges from flat in well under three hours and takes only a couple of seconds to swap out.
The images are suitable for enlargement up to approximately 18"x12" - beyond this you may start to see some pixellation.
If you generally ...

I felt cool when I picked the 880
Review of Nikon Coolpix 880 by
Handonheart
Advantages: Amazing macro pictures
Disadvantages: Battery life isn't long
...~ Continuous Shooting modes
Nikon were fairly generous with this camera when it came to the high-speed modes. There is a movie clip setting - this isn't great and doesn't include sound. Video clips suffer from jerky movement and it seems to record the video as very fast still images rather than allowing motion blur to occur which helps to smooth things out. This could have advantages if you are analysing a movie clip as each frame is going to have ... ...cards, spare batteries and the Nikon filter kit that I bought seperately.
On the side of the camera is the usb connector port, power in connector and wrpping around the die to the back is the cover for the memory card. This feels substantial and doesn't show signs of breaking. The camera can take compact flash (type 1 only) memory cards.
On the bottom of the camera is the battery compartment and tripod screw thread. I find this slightly worrying ...

Nikon D70s
Review of Nikon D70s by
roddersontheradio
Advantages: Solid, professional class images; fast
Disadvantages: Not overly simple to use; small LCD screen; auto settings can disappoint
No questioning the Nikon quality..it's robust and solid like it's reputation but not the best buy in it's class for the amateur. I should state at this stage that I'm no professional although I do use the camera to back up my magazine articles so I hope you'll find my views useful. The D70s is fast and produces great images but you need a good understanding of light and exposure to get the best out of it. To this end I would recommend weaning yourself ... ...The D70 is powered by Nikon EN-EL3 Lithium-Ion battery pack which lasts for ages but note, when it goes, it gives you very little warning so I always carry my charger with me for quick hotel charging. If you spend ages in the field, my advice would be to buy a spare battery.
In short, the D70s is not the simplest of cameras to use; it does have pre set exposures and a fully automatic mode but these can disappoint. However, if you know your stuff ...

Fujifilm FinePix Z100fd AMAZING!
Review of Fujifilm FinePix Z100FD by
Gemma1990
Advantages: Stunning photos, looks gorgeous, easy to use
Disadvantages: none :)
I got this camera a few months ago, and i absolutely love it!
Not only does it look amazing, but the quality of the pictures are stunning too.
The screen on the back is a really good size so you can see clearly what your pics are like.
The menu for choosing settings is easy to navigate, but there are so many different settings it takes a while to figure out which one you need!
This has to be my favourite camera I've ever had, it's small so it ...
