Become a little less camera shy.
Review of Canon EOS 350D by
fimsy
Advantages: Lightweight, able to take many lenses making it a flexible use camera, cheap, good starting DSLR
Disadvantages: Not suitable for those already familiar with DSLRs, some accessories/lenses expensive
...within the hobbyist's range, the canon EOS 350D is a powerful little camera to get yourself started on the long road to developing your skills. Packed full of features to help you along the way such as pre-set shooting modes for macro, night shots and sports shots, as well as full manual mode to allow you to try out and get a feel for the more technical side of photography this camera body kit is perfect to ease you into the world of the DSLR. Features:
... ...something your arms will thank canon for.
Battery lasts for surprisingly long, but prolonged and continuous shooting would need another precharged battery or battery pack.
The screen is large enough to provide you with a good idea of what your images look like without overpowering the rest of the camera. On the whole incredibly reliable, no problems had in over a year of use, but like all electrical goods, you have to look after it! Investing in ...

Great semi pro, or pro backup.
Review of Canon EOS 20D by
stuf1982
Advantages: Light weight yet robust
Disadvantages: Small sensor limit's full 35mm lenses, slightly red cast.
I am a professional photographer and use a 20D as one of my backups. This is an excellent semi pro camera that is user friendly enough for any beginner. With image quality suitable for printing up to A2 from a RAW file. I would strongly recommend shooting in RAW wherever possible as the JPEG compression can be very limiting for post shoot editing and any image correction you may need to apply.
To get the most out of the camera I would recommend ...

Canon Digital EOS 30D
Review of Canon EOS 30D by
staceylema
Advantages: Great quality for the price and user friendly buttons
Disadvantages: 8 megapixels (if you value that)
I've been a traditional film photographer for years and the EOS 30D was the first digital slr we purchased a few months ago. My husband and I are so happy with this camera and love that we can take it on vacation for candids, then turn around and utilize it more professionally for portraits. There is such a range of creative options that allows this camera to be very functional for a variety of situations from backyard bbq's to more professional ... ...with this buy and definitely recommend this for people who desire a camera that can be functional in casual situations and for families as well as professionally....
The one down side for many is the 8 megapixels but I haven't had any problems with clarity for prints I have printed because the largest I print is 16x20 and they turn out beautiful! ...

Grat carmera - If you can still get one!
Review of Fujifilm FinePix F30 by
minionaire
Advantages: Small, grat in low light.
Disadvantages: Not widely available any more.
This is a great compact camera, as I write in October 2008 it still has the best low light performance of any compact. Don't let the fact that it only has 6MP (low by today's standards) put you off. This truly is a great camera. Ideal for social situations when the lighting level is low. It's other modes of operation are good, especially the flash mode which takes one picture without flash and one with. This makes it easy to reject and keep the best ...

This camera is a bargain goodness!
Review of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P1 by
ishralene09
Advantages: Affordable, Easy to carry, Can shoot movie clips, Zoom function
Disadvantages: Hard to upgrade memory due to new technology
This camera was brought by my father from Japan. Actually we have two of these in the house. And it really is a joy to have two, as we can shoot and shoot.
This camera is actually old by now. It does have 3.3 Megapixels when it comes to details, but this camera is by now hard to use. You might want to buy a better camera. But if you want bargain, this should work as well.
My father bought two of these for about I don't know, $5 each. So it's a ... ...so bad. And it also has zoom functions to boot. And one great feature of this camera is that it can shoot a 15-second movie clip. Not bad for an old camera eh?
Of course, there are several flaws too. When shooting at a dark space, it will appear as if the background is well lit on the camera's LCD. But when transfered to a PC, you can see that it is not that light, and you have to fix the picture just to make it light. Another big constraint is ...
