An excellent point and shoot gem
Review of Samsung NV8 by tjghendriks

Advantages: Innovative and intuitive touch interface, effective image stabilisation
Disadvantages: Auto focus occasionally a little slow

I purchased a Samsung NV8 a few weeks ago for taking snaps on a skiing holiday. I was lucky enough to pick it up for £79 at John Lewis because it had been out of the box as a demonstration item. The camera comes boxed with rechargeable battery, USB cable, mains charger, software CD, AV cable, wrist strap and manuals. The USB cable plugs into the mains plug to act as a standalone charger - this is a great plus in my opinion as more and more different ...
...have to pack one 3-pin plug part when going away, and all my USB-charging devices can use it. The cable itself is simple and functional, with an LED light in the end which connects to the camera to show (through its colour) the charging status. The camera itself goes for a design which blends retro with modern, and looks very stylish in sleek black with blue accents. The front of the camera has a bulge on one side with a rubberised grip which makes ... Read review

Best Compact Digi I've Ever Used
Review of Ricoh Caplio R7 by marksweb

Advantages: great image quality from a tiny camera!
Disadvantages: noisy lens mechanism due to it being such a big lens in such a small body

Picked this up nearly 3 months ago now as my third compact digital after having a kodak for my first then a canon IXUS 500 after that. I also shoot with a Canon EOS 300d so was looking for great image quality, and a general upgrade from my IXUS. I went for the R7 because it starts up and shoots so fast its perfect as a little point and shoot. The zoom level is brilliant and I don't even use digital zoom. As far as settings go its got all that ...
...then for the more advanced users the array of custom options are far beyond any compact digital I have used in the past. Its even got manual focus! I've not really found any faults with the camera so far, it does everything I need and more, looks really cool and is really easy to use. ... Read review

Konica Minolta A200
Review of Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200 by psilk

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, range of functions, lens quality, anti shake function
Disadvantages: Viewfinder not the best, low light autofocus

Although Konica Minolta have now ceased making cameras, there are still a few of these around (and warranty/service has been handed over to Sony). The A200 is the last of KM bridge mount digital cameras in the pro-sumer market. It has a 8m pixel CCD and 28 to 200 (35mm equivalent) manual zoom lens - much better than a motor driven lens which tend to have noticeable "stops". Although fairly big (not quite as big as a D-SLR) and quite heavy, the range ...
...a number of programme modes in between means that you get pretty much all the benefits of a D-SLR in a smaller, more convenient package. It's no pocket camera however. A number of items standout:- the excellent quality lens (which has very little barrel distortion or vignetting) and which can take both wide-angle and telephoto adaptors the multi angle display which makes self portraits (with remote) or taking pictures from unusual angles (like above ... canon powershot pto 1
Review of Canon PowerShot Pro1 by ciaojake

Advantages: Wide range of feature;Good battery life
Disadvantages: Expensive;

...air of durability about it. Canon uses a similar layout control to its digital SLR range with colour coded play/record controls neatly recessed into the body. The exposure mode dial sits at an angle on the rear just in reach of your thumb, allowing you to switch modes without taking your finger off the shutter release Features Equipped with an 8Mp sensor, there’s every opportunity to blow up your close ups and other shots to A3 without compromising ...
...with the same battery pack canon uses with its digital SLR range, power management from the pro 1 is excellent, with some 300 – 400 shots from a single charge. Images can be recorded in RAW and JPEG formats simultaneously, and save onto compact flash type 2 or micro drive cards. Performance With excellent handling and controls, the pro 1 is an extremely enjoyable camera to use both outside and in a home studio environment. Image quality is among ... Read review

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F828
Review of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F828 by wirehead

Advantages: Very good photo quality, 8 Megapixel resolution, Amazing low light focusing abilities, Full manual controls
Disadvantages: Can't save favorite settings to mode dial like other cameras, No memory card included, Can't save favorite settings to mode dial like other cameras

...comfortable with 5 Megapixel cameras, Sony has made a huge jump -- releasing the first consumer-level camera with an 8 Megapixel CCD -- the Cyber-shot DSC-F828. This CCD isn't special just for the resolution, though. It's also the first camera to use a new 4-color filter. This new filter adds an "emerald" filter to the RGB filters normally found in a CCD. Sony says this will produce photos with much more accurate color. Another big feature of the ...
...DSC-F717. It's also the first Sony camera with a CompactFlash slot -- never thought I'd see the day! The F828 is the first Sony camera that does not include a memory card. So you'll need to factor this into the purchase price. The F828 can use Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro cards, as well as CompactFlash. Yes, you read that correctly -- the F828 has a CompactFlash Type II slot. This is great news for people who are switching from a CF-based camera. ... Read review
