Canon EOS 350D
Review of Canon EOS 350D by
joelimar73
Advantages: Flash compensation setting
Disadvantages: External flash is a must when taking group indoor shots
Very nice camera. Especially the macro shots. Performance in low light /indoor condition not that good but an external flash will do the thing. Handling is good and the placement of knobs and function buttons are well placed. Taking pictures with high ISO setting is nice, especially if the condition requires no firing of flash. Battery performance is at par. You can take several shots even if you are using internal flash. I like the flash compensation ...

Canon 20D Review
Review of Canon EOS 20D by
benjybh
Advantages: Image Quality, Feel and Ergonomics
Disadvantages: Size and weight (but not bad for a D-SLR)
The Canon 20D is the fourth DSLR of the xxD line by Canon, which now contains 6 cameras. In my opinion the 20D is one of the best, for a number of reasons. The 8mp sensor allows prints to be made at A3 size or more, while reducing noise in the images. It also features a Magnesium Alloy body which feels very solid, and adds to the impression that this camera is more expensive than it actually is - it can be found very cheaply now from eBay or professional ... ...enough for shooting action sequences, from children's school sports days to F1 and airshows. The images the 20D produces are of very high quality, with comparitavely low noise at high ISO presenting perfectly useable shots up to ISO 800. Battery life is impressive, but can be improved by using the optional BG-E2 battery grip, which holds two batteries and contributes to the excellent handling, even when coupled with large telephoto lenses.

Konica Minolta A200
Review of Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200 by
psilk
Advantages: Excellent picture quality, range of functions, lens quality, anti shake function
Disadvantages: Viewfinder not the best, low light autofocus
Although Konica Minolta have now ceased making cameras, there are still a few of these around (and warranty/service has been handed over to Sony).
The A200 is the last of KM bridge mount digital cameras in the pro-sumer market. It has a 8m pixel CCD and 28 to 200 (35mm equivalent) manual zoom lens - much better than a motor driven lens which tend to have noticeable "stops". Although fairly big (not quite as big as a D-SLR) and quite heavy, the range ... ...a number of programme modes in between means that you get pretty much all the benefits of a D-SLR in a smaller, more convenient package. It's no pocket camera however. A number of items standout:- the excellent quality lens (which has very little barrel distortion or vignetting) and which can take both wide-angle and telephoto adaptors the multi angle display which makes self portraits (with remote) or taking pictures from unusual angles (like above ...

A joy to use and great results.
Review of Olympus E-300 by
BanbiPilot
Advantages: Lovely images images, superb construction.
Disadvantages: Less convenient than a compact. Auto-white balance and metering occassionally incorrect.
It's a pity the E300 is no longer available, because I think it's a fantastic tool. I bought the E300 twin lens kit after my first digital camera, the discontinued Nikon Coolpix 4500 expired. Actually, that camera took some beautiful photographs and was incredibly versatile. It's only real fault was slow and somewhat unreliable autofocus. I guess I learned the basics of photography with it.
The E300, however, was a real revalation: instant focusing, ... ...and truly stunning images. I recently had a picture of my little boy printed at 32" by 24", and it's still pin sharp which says all you need to know about the capability of the 8Mpixel sensor. I really don't see the need for more pixels than this. True, you need to learn how to use the camera to get that kind of performance from the lenses every time. But I really do get very few duds.
Battery life is amazing too. ...
