I bought a refurbished unit from Jessops for just over £100. Have had absolutely no problems with it and it takes sharp shots. You can use automatic settings or use any of the preset settings to take shots and even use the fully manual settings to get the right shot. It not being an slr in the full sense of the word, it sure is close to one. It may take a bit of time to get used to it afterall, there are so many settings which they've tried to tuck ...
...need a tripod when taking shots using the full zoom as it is difficult to get a sharp shot at such level of zoom power. 10x zoom is no joke. It's really powerful. The Flash is excellent and has a rather good range and takes some really nice shots at night with a tweak of the settings. It also has a wide angle, bracketting and multishot settings. Disadvantages: lens cover isn't good, big and bulky, labels are confusing

I got this camera a few years ago and since then it has been nothing but good. First of all it takes good photos, but it is also quite easy to use but some of the labels on it are quite confusing. Another bad thing is that the lens cover isn't very well designed and breaks quite easily and didn't really stay on much to start with. INTRODUCTION: I have bought two of these cameras - one for myself and one for work (I am a semi-pro photographer at a major public school), so pleased was with my own camera. The A2 was, in about 2003, just about the best of the 'prosumer' digital cameras available and won many awards. I have read many internet reviews of this camera, SOME of which refer to 'purple fringing', which is a feature of the particular (Sony-made) image sensor used in this (and most other) 8Mp cameras. I can only report that I have scarely noticed it at all - whatever others may worry about, it is too small to get stressed over (and can easily be removed within Photoshop, anyway).
