This is the SLR for YOU!
Review of Nikon D40 by piratess2104

Advantages: Price, durability, ergonomic design, ease of use, good instructions!
Disadvantages: No memory card included. Argh.

...ISO also applies, and the Nikon Processing engine is the same as the D80 or the D200, with 420 pixel sensor on the 3D Color Matrix Metering. If this all sounds a bit beyond you, the camera ALSO offers lots of helpful and accessible functions like "in-camera retouching". This is just to help you improve your photos BEFORE you take them - the LCD monitor will tell you if your scene is too dark and you need to use the flash (I am so guilty of this). ...
...used across a variety of Nikon models - probably your current Nikon uses the same). I've read some pretty positive comments about the battery life - I would say average. HOWEVER, there is NO MEMORY CARD INCLUDED. I cannot stress this enough - it's the one big irritation in the specification. The camera is still definitely worth getting, but you do need to budget for a card (and probably if you buy this card you'll need a reasonably big one). The ... Read review

Nikon D80 - Superb Prosumer DSLR
Review of Nikon D80 by apestyler

Advantages: Image quality and build quality
Disadvantages: Lots of noise at high ISO

Background The Nikon D80 is Nikon's attempt to get back into the Prosumer market after the D70 & D70s were getting a bit long in the tooth. What they have cleverly done is take all the decent features from their D200 (which has recently been replaced by the D300) and mix it together with elements of the D50 to create an affordable camera for hobbyists who wish to take photography to the next level. What's in the box The list below is from a 'Body ...
...Strap - USB Cable - Nikon PictureProject 1.7 CD-ROM - Nikon CaptureFX Trial CD-ROM - Various reading materials such as Manual, Warranty and Registration cards Overview As mentioned at the beginning of this review the D80 is heavily based around the D200 and inherits features such as the 10.2 Megapixel sensor (the device which captures the image), 11 Autofocus zones, 2.5" LCD review screen, the EN-EL3e battery system and the ISO range of 100 ... Nikon D40x DSLR
Review of Nikon D40x by almarsden

Advantages: Compact for an SLR, easy to use, excellent picture quality.
Disadvantages: Battery life only allows 1000ish photos to be taken

My review is about the Nikon D40x Digital Single Lense Reflex camera. For the last 3 years i've been taking photographs using my dad Konika Minolta Dynax 5D, but as of a few months ago i've moved in with my other half and no longer have access to my dads camera, so before christmas it was decided that we needed our own digital SLR. I'd got a couple of models in mind, the Canon EOS 500d and the Nikon D40, they both did what I wanted of them and ...
...thats when I spotted the Nikon D40x, it hadn't come up in my searches on the internet and turned out that it was a better version of the D40 and had a 10mp CCD instead of just 6mp. I had a play with the Canon EOS 500d and the Nikon D40x and decided that the D40x was a far nicer camera to hold and use and wasn't much more expensive (only about £20). Whilst I was in the store I decided it worthwhile (being as they would also work out cheapers) to ... Read review

Happy snapping with the D300
Review of Nikon D300 by Jobanjos

Advantages: Competitively priced and packed with new features
Disadvantages: None! Any disadvantages would be entirely personal

The Nikon D300 will currently set you back around £1000 in the UK, and that's without the glass on the front. My review here might seem technical to some, but that's not an amount of money most people part with lightly. I don't apologise for putting some basic spec in the review, after all, if you're considering buying this camera, it's exactly what you need to know before getting out your wallet. If you're after a camera that will take good quality ...
...said, my review of the Nikon D300 contains some specifications and technical speak, as well as my own experience of using the camera. I haven't covered everything, as that would take forever, but I've aimed to cover some of the more important and useable features. ***What's in the Box?*** D300 body, including body cap, LCD monitor cover and eyepiece cap EN-EL3e rechargeable Li-ion battery with terminal cover MH-18a quick charger and power cable ... Nikon Coolpix S200
Review of Nikon Coolpix S200 by salar15

Advantages: Functions well in daylight; looks good and is fairly compact
Disadvantages: Picture quality is middle-of-the-road; is awful in low light

The Nikon Coolpix is a good-looking camera; that is not to be doubted. I was initially very pleased with it, but have since been a little underwhelmed. Although I think Nikon are a very good company who on the whole turn out some excellent products, I am unconvinced that the S200 is one of their best pieces of work. My main gripes are twofold. Firstly, I do not think that the picture quality is anything better than average, and there are certainly ...
...it. In sum, the Nikon Coolpix performs adequately when used in a social setting by the amateur. However, even then, it simply is not the best camera on the market for this purpose. Take this with the weighty downsides, and I would have to recommend looking elsewhere. ... Read review
