Not impressed by Caplio RR120
Review of Ricoh Caplio RR120 by
ronbmy
Advantages: Cheap, easy to use and light in weight
Disadvantages: Cheap plastic internal parts cause failures
...started clicking then stopped working. Ricoh sent a replacement which worked for just under a year before the same thing happened to that.
Mine developed the same fault after about 18 months so I took it apart to locate the fault. The auto focus/zoom intermediate transfer gearing is made of cheap plastic and is a push-fit with nothing to secure it in place. If the camera gets a slight - and I mean slight - knock in the wrong place one of the pinions ... ...in on a subject until it slips into macro zoom. Then you can turn it off without the clicking. This may buy you around 10 or 15 on/off cycles before it fails again.
Never have I paid so much money for such garbage. I will not buy Ricoh again. ...

Simple Digital Photography
Review of Ricoh RDC 6000 by
Dohnutter
Advantages: Consistant results
Disadvantages: Poor Digital Zoom
...drivers has been maintained by Ricoh covering all the newer operating systems. Connection to PC is via a supplied USB cable, with the option of connecting to a TV monitor to display your results on the big screen, again the cable is supplied to do this. Power is provided by rechargeable battery, including charger, but you cannot use standard batteries if this happens to go flat. Power can be conserved by turning off the LCD display.
Storage is on ... ...64 Meg card, giving around 1400 low res images, and upto 55ish high res images, with many settings in between. Maximum pixels is upto 3megapixels, but this does use interpolation, otherwise 2 megapixels is the norm. Output to hard copy is good on my HP Deskjet930C, so results will depend on the printer used.
Control of the camera is by a Jog Dial, with simple options to select the mode ( take photo, replay, PC mode etc ) and within that a menu is ...

rr30 - my first digital camera
Review of Ricoh Caplio RR30 by
scampbunny
Advantages: quick data transfer to pc, easy to use, excellent zoom functions
Disadvantages: pictures can be a little grainy if zooming in too close
...i found it in the ricoh rr30!!! i managed to get it from asda - good as i was working there - and it was a good price - £140. such an excellent camera, easy to use, easy to tranfer pictures to the pc for editing and not too expensive!! it has the general camera - with timer and video camera for 30secs - without sound, which is a shame. there are 6 different settings for the camera - portrait, sports, ladscape, nightscape, text & high sensitivity. ... ...my pictures are of my son. u are able to delete any pics u dont want, as there is instant review with the lcd screen on the back, and u can zoom in on the pictures after theyve been taken - also good, to check if the picture is one to keep. there are also the usual camera points - flash settings, red eye, and auto-focus. what more do you want from your first camera??? if you're just getting into digital photography and don't want to spend a fortune ...

A great camera in its day
Review of Ricoh Caplio R4 by
LJJames
Advantages: Small, light, great 7.1 optical zoom lens, lots of features to change settings, long battery life
Disadvantages: Bit old now, flash can be covered by a stray finger
At 6 megapixels, it's not a class leader any more but that's more than enough for day to day shooting. What impressed me the most when I bought this camera 3 years ago was the lens - an impressive 7.1 optical zoom. This is double what you get in most compact cameras which means you can get closer to the subject you are photographing. It is also quite small and light, perfect for carrying around in a pocket. The screen is big and clear and the functions ... ...can't use the zoom whilst filming.
The only real negative is that it is a bit old now and there are better cameras on the market but you can't go wrong with this one if the price is right. I still use this one as my main camera. I particularly liked the fact that it was black when so many other compact digitals are silver. ...

Super easy use camera for holidays
Review of Ricoh Caplio R1 by
oldwasp
Advantages: Macro, Slim Design, Superfast startup.
Disadvantages: Poor Night Photos
Ricoh Caplio R1
Lenght 10cm Depth 5.5cm and less than 2.5cm Thick which is quiet amazing because on start up the lense comes out just under 2cm and 3.5cm at full zoom.
The R1 is silver as the picture shows but also comes in black.
The lens is a wide angle 28mm lens with a zoom upto 135mm and a macro mode that allows you to focus as close as 1cm now that is dam good.
Another amazing thing about this camera is the shutter respons time, which i ... ...a quick overview of the Ricoh Caplio R1 now a bit more indepth details.
The front of the camera has a flash which has a rangeof 0.2 to 2.7m (w)and 0.13 to 2.1m (t).Flash can be set to off, auto, redeye forced flash and slow synchro. The camera takes ok photos at night with other lighting but when it is very dark the pitures turn out very grainy.
To open the lens cover you slide the power switch across and the cover opens and out pops the lens.
