Fujifim done well
Review of Fujifilm FinePix S1000fd by Daytonastar

Advantages: weight, zoom, pixels, software, flash
Disadvantages: none found

After a succession of digital cameras, my samsung started eating batteries, a replacement was needed, and the SF1000 seemed ideal; 10 mp and a 12X zoom. It was on offer in a local camera shop at £130, so I bought it. They threw in a 4m sd card, so off I went, shooting everything. Lovely shot of a lion (Woburn), enlarged to 20X16, fantastic colour, no grain, excellent detail. Taken at 6X zoom, no sign of camera shake. It has face recognition, something ...
...the people shots are pretty good. Panorama function is good, I may start using it more. So the camera seems to be making me more adventurous! Grip is pretty good, it fits into the hand well. It's a lightweight, so holding is no problem, even though it takes four AA batteries. So far, battery life seems pretty good (I use only rechargables, unless it's an emergency). I like the pop up flash, as you can't set the flash off by mistake. It has a good ... Read review

Good Digital Camera for frequent usage
Review of Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd by sweetmom

Advantages: bigger picture, lens, more zoom, face detection, image sizes
Disadvantages: no zoom for videos, a bit high price, bit heavy weight, large in size

This is the latest digita camera I have and I must say this is a very good camera. The best feature of this camera is definitely the lens, which offers a 35mm equivalent focal length of 27-486mm, which allows both wide angle shooting and also extreme telephoto. It also has a unique feature of face detection, which is the ability to recognise and focus on up to ten faces within the frame. There is an automatic red eye reduction feature for better ... Review of Olympus SP-570 UZ by EarthSeaSky

Advantages: I know of no other in its class that offers that zoom range
Disadvantages: SP-570 UZ RAW (ORF) Files are unsupported by Photoshop CS3

...of the 60's, the last Olympus digital compact camera I bought was the C-5050UZ (2002) with it's peerless f/1.8 aspherical lens that is among the best cameras of dozens that I've owned since I was a shutterbug in my youth, and later as a professional wedding photographer - 'until death do us part!' Six years down the track I've developed an interest in bird photography (as distinct from brides) and having switched to digital completely, I bought an ...
...machinations. In fairness to Olympus I will say that a very good English hard copy manual is included, although the CD software created some system conflicts in my pc. I also found that RAW (ORF) files created in the SP-570 UZ are unsupported by Photoshop and apparently can only be post processed using the Olympus editing software that comes bundled with the camera. That is strange because RAW (ORF) files created in the Olympus C-5050 are compatible ... Read review

Nikon Coolpix 80
Review of Nikon Coolpix P80 by Questers

Advantages: Top of the range for quality and usage
Disadvantages: Cost if anything

...and I own the previous Nikon and are currently looking at upgrading to the Nikon Coolpix 80. The price is very reasonable we think as the quality of Nikons are second to none. We even managed a discount when we first purchased ours from Jessops in Derby due to my partner being a student photographer. We have had only a few problems with our existing Nikon which is why we are likely to purchase the new Coolpix 80. The customer service at Nikon have ...
...The new features on the Nikon Coolpix 80 are exciting and we can't wait to purchase it although we are not sure where we will do it this time as we are now in Manchester and not Derby. What we did find was the accessories were quite expensive however they can be used on all cameras so we will now be able to use them on the Nikon Coolpix 80. ... Read review

Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ50
Review of Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50EB-K by kev927

Advantages: Stunning zoom for those long range shots
Disadvantages: You need a tripod for steadying picture when using the Macro Zoom

The camera is so easy to use that you only need to read the book to learn about the special features in depth. I read the book to discover how to put the battery in and then I was away. When I needed to use a feature I looked it up in the instruction book. The FZ50 has a wonderful zoom range and have been taking some stunning photographs. The lens is outstanding. The image stabilisation is v. good and start-up and multiple picture mode is quick. ... Read review
