Promisses much, delivers little
Review of Olympus SP-570 UZ by
piloteer81
Advantages: long zoom, high resolution
Disadvantages: fails to deliver and very dissapointing
...in compact cameras like the Olympus SP-570 UZ, a certain amount of quality is lost in the image. But with the 12x Zoom on my Sony, this was hardly noticable and more than compensated with by the increased versatility.
However, the above is not true of the OlympusSP-570 UZ. In short I found the pictures to be soft and lacking depth. Even side by side with my Sony H2 which is a two year old camera, both at auto settings, the H2 won hands down.
It ... ...likes of the Olympus 410 costing less than the 570, it's even more difficult to justify choosing the Olympus 570 over a low end DSLR. If the Olympus was £75 cheaper it might be easier to recommend but there are plenty of bridge cameras out there that perform equally well. ...

Good Digital Camera for frequent usage
Review of Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd by
sweetmom
Advantages: bigger picture, lens, more zoom, face detection, image sizes
Disadvantages: no zoom for videos, a bit high price, bit heavy weight, large in size
This is the latest digita camera I have and I must say this is a very good camera. The best feature of this camera is definitely the lens, which offers a 35mm equivalent focal length of 27-486mm, which allows both wide angle shooting and also extreme telephoto. It also has a unique feature of face detection, which is the ability to recognise and focus on up to ten faces within the frame. There is an automatic red eye reduction feature for better ...

Nikon Coolpix 80
Review of Nikon Coolpix P80 by
Questers
Advantages: Top of the range for quality and usage
Disadvantages: Cost if anything
...and I own the previous Nikon and are currently looking at upgrading to the Nikon Coolpix 80. The price is very reasonable we think as the quality of Nikons are second to none. We even managed a discount when we first purchased ours from Jessops in Derby due to my partner being a student photographer. We have had only a few problems with our existing Nikon which is why we are likely to purchase the new Coolpix 80. The customer service at Nikon have ... ...The new features on the Nikon Coolpix 80 are exciting and we can't wait to purchase it although we are not sure where we will do it this time as we are now in Manchester and not Derby. What we did find was the accessories were quite expensive however they can be used on all cameras so we will now be able to use them on the Nikon Coolpix 80. ...

a new piece of work from sony
Review of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H50B by
razzda
Advantages: state-of-the-art optics, big tilting screen, optical stabilizer, face&smile detection
Disadvantages: awkward jog dial, lens hood ridiculously big
...quality and the longevity of Sony products, and when I saw the H50 advertised with all its benefits, I knew it was the best upgrade for me.
I am impressed with it, to say the least. The camera is as I expected and more. Compared with H1, it's sleeker, easier to work with, smarter in terms of menu and options. It's also very intelligent and intuitive, with numerous presets and creative modes. Sony have also made a clever decision bringing some of ... ...below the shutter release button. Sony have decided to move this dial on the back of the H50, surrounding the up-and-down-left-and-right control button that has become so usual on digital cameras (and remote controls) lately. This makes it awkward to work with both the multidirectional controls and the dial.
2. the lens hood is flower-type and is too big for this camera. I am sure it's this big for a reason, but still…
Nevertheless, for all the ...
