Advantages: Ludicrously good value for money!
Disadvantages: Not a compact
A bold claim, I hear you cry, but this is honestly the best damn digicam out at the moment, bar one problem. (Which I will deal with now before going on to why it rocks)

Panasonic Lumix DCM-FZ20 5 Meg digital camera
Advantages: powerful x12 optical zoom ,SLR true colour photo's,movies as well
Disadvantages: slightly bulky not always the easiest menu system to use
