Kawai MP4
Review of Kawai MP4 Stage Piano by lhough20

Advantages: sounds, key action, responsiveness, sturdy
Disadvantages: no dedicated windows driver supplied

I purchased the kawai MP4 in Jan 07. This is my first "portable full size piano". I action of the keys is unbelievable and exactly as a real piano. The touch response can be customised to fit the style of the player and also each sound can also be customised. The MP4 has 64 onboard sounds which can all be altered, shaped and programmed to suit and then saved. The recent firmware upgrade provided by Kawai means that theres 264 memory allocation spaces ...
...together and custonised (up to 4 at once). The midi functions of the MP4 are in a class of their own. The onboad sounds can be "mixed" with external sounds and each turned on and off at the touch of a button. Most dedicated Midi controller keyboards do not have as many functions on as the MP4! The sounds are very realistic and not "gimicky" at all. A decent quality set of headphones really brings the sounds to life and they also sounds top quality ... Read review

Disadvantages: Limited to 7 Genres of Tone, Needs a good stand, Not very portable

I purchased the Kawai MP9000 in Dublin about 2 years ago for €2,300 (about £1,550 STG ) and I am very happy with my choice. I have issues with it and I will discuss them later. This action is Touch Sensitive. Polyphony: 64 Notes (How many keys can be ...

Korg Blimey
Review of Korg SP-100 by mojobob

Advantages: Full-length, nice key action
Disadvantages: Not a real piano!

...near - I pair this Korg up with a Nord rack (better piano/organ sounds). On saying that, I will be using this Korg as part of a piano/vocal duo and know that it is light enough to be wheeled about in it's flight case (I'm a girl, the boys I know carry it with even more ease). If you're looking to replace a piano for gigs, this is a satisfactory substitute and much easier to transport! The piano sound is really quite nice for an electric piano, ...
...to grips with, or to use with external racks for a wider variety of sounds (I've used both a JV and the current Nord rack with this piano).; Specs: • Light, Standard, Heavy • Tone generator: • AI² Synthesis System • Polyphony: • Max.. 32 notes • Sound programs: • Piano (Stereo Sample), Electric piano,Harpsichord, Vibraphone, Organ,Strings • Effects: • Reverb, Chorus • Recorder: • ... A good no frills keyboard
Review of Roland EP-77 by peterb666

Advantages: A compact substitue for a piano
Disadvantages: Nothing really

I have interited a Roland EP-77 from my mother. I don't know mich about digital pianos, but it seems to do everying you would need of a machine that is intended as a substitute for the real thing. It sounds like a piano (to me), it sort of feels like a piano, but it is a lot smaller. This is a neat and unassuming digital keyboard that would make a good substitute for a real piano if you lack the room. It is essentially free from most gimmicks and ...
...headphone sockets. Best of all, it doesn't look or feel like a toy that probable better describes many other keyboards. I like the feel of the keys. I guess it is supposed to mimic a real piano. I wouldn't say that they have suceeded 100% but it is good enough. Recommended. ... Read review

Experience with Roland EP-77
Review of Roland EP-77 by Lirybka

Advantages: modifiability, portable
Disadvantages: need of electricity

...really started to like on Roland EP-77 it was the fact that it is portable. - Several times it happened to me that I couldn't play the big piano at certain occasions because I cannot just put this instrument into my pocket and like this to take it with me from home. With Roland EP-77 it was solved. About recording your tunes it is no longer a dream even with some different sounds (strings, bells, organ), you can do that directly by cable - without ...
...a big real instrument, then Roland EP-77 means for you just an artificial "tonemaker". And really, it doesn't have as big differentiating of the keystroke as the real piano. --- How to get it --- My parents paid for it almost 500 GBP. After time, we needed another one because we found out that it is so practical.., at that time the price was already less. Nowadays (years after) I guess it is even less. Go to Amazon or Ebay and check out the actual ... Read review
