Superb Portable Piano Advantages: Superior natural sound quality, not bulky, new interesting and useful features Disadvantages: none Yamaha P-85S Digital Stage Piano is the best thing that our church acquired. The antiquated piano that has been with at the church since it was established is too bulky and heavy so the Board decided to buy a portable piano for our outdoor church programs and activities. We have always trusted Yamaha brand when it comes to musical instrument but I never imagined this Yamaha P-85S Digital Stage Piano could be this enchanting. Its elegant black color matches the splendor of the sound it creates. Yamaha CP300 Advantages: - Disadvantages: - Yamaha CP300 sings better than its previous pianos. I compared it to some other pianos such as Bluthner, Bosendorfer, Bechstein, Technics PR900 and Yamaha P-150. Its features include MIDI/XG tone generator which is much more capable than the P-150, a detachable power lead and a panel lock which would not change the settings when you hit one of the buttons as it might happen with P-150, balanced XLR outputs, the half damping feature, comprehensive ... ...a multi-timbral tone generator. Unfortunately, Yamaha does not come supplied with a music rest. You can buy it as an accessory which would cost you about £30. You probably have to order it direct from Yamaha if it is not available at the music stores. Another accessory that you would have to purchase is a stand specially made by Yamaha to sit the instrument. It costs £150. However, you could use other suitable stands. NP30 Review Advantages: piano sound quality, light weight/ portable, graded touch keys, affordable Disadvantages: 76 note not full 88 note keyboard ...require the full 88 notes...the Yamaha P85, (basically NP30's big brother) is a very good option. My recommendation would be to purchase the NP30, (or P85) with the optional sustain pedal. This will ensure maximum control of the dynamics of this outstanding instrument. Also, a keyboard stand is a must for the serious player. Yamaha Clavinova CVP-85A Advantages: As close to a piano as you can possibly get Disadvantages: Takes up a lot of space, extremely heavy I bought a Yamaha Clavinova CVP-87A in mint condition just 2 years ago from a well known music supplier, together with stool and original instruction manual and style disk. This is truly a remarkable piece of instrumental equipment which would cost around £2,000-£3,000 to purchase, had it been a new model. I bought it for £900, but only because it was second hand to begin with, so I really feel as if I'd got myself a bargain.
