Canon EOS 1000D, Beginners Bargain

Advantages: great range of features, good looking camera

The Canon EOS 1000D is an excellent entry level camera. I bought it in September 2008 for £384 with the 18-55mm lens and a £50 cashback from Canon themselves. The picture quality is excellent with a basic range of settings that are excellent for beginners to learn the ropes of photography. Excellent camera with amazing picture quality

Advantages: Amazing picture quality, performance in low light conditions, HD filming
Disadvantages: Price, easily smudged screen

I went from a canon 400d and the differences were amazing. The first thing you notice is the superior build, it feels so much more tough and its more comfortable to hold as it is bigger. The screen is alot bigger and better quality although its very easily smudged. The wheel give you easy navigation but the real difference is the pictures. Canon EOS450D. User friendly, well built and good value

Advantages: Simple to use, well-made, quality images, Value for money, plenty of extras available

Buy this instead of a rebel

Advantages: Ease of use, build quality, picture quality
Disadvantages: No weather seals, 1.6x crop factor.

This camera takes incredible pictures if you know how to use a camera, and if you use good lenses. A rebel and a 40D will have the same picture quality if used with the same lens... the difference lies in the price.... and the features. The 40d is equipped with lots of nice features the rebel doesn't have. It has a small screen on top of the body so you can easily see every settings the camera is now in. You see white balance, iso, picture quality, ...
