Pentax K200D, Great starter camera

Advantages: Robust, Splashproof, ease of use, lots of features that you would normally pay 100's for.
Disadvantages: Not for the professional, additional lens can be expensive

Superb entry-level DSLR, the Pentax K-m is a joy to use.

Advantages: lightweight, good range of features, good picture quality, uses AA batteries
Disadvantages: built-in flash is a bit limited, landscapes tend to be underexposed
