It is a DAW (digital audio workstation) with its own built in synths, drum machines, effects, mixers compressors, you name it its got it. For people not familiar with such terms, its basically a digital "band" in a box. You write music in it, apply effects (such as reverb,delay etc...) and put it all together in one program.
It has an awesome look to it, it is laid out like ... ...absolute must for anyone making digital music. The fact that it is so different from most DAW's is a major advantage. It is probably most similar to Fruity Loops, if you had to compare. But, if I had to choose between them, Reason is slightly superior. I cannot recommend this product enough. If you are looking to get into digital music production, this is the only place to start, and if you are already making digital music and you don't have Reason, ...
