    A few years ago, I visited a village called Oradour-sur-Glane in France. During the Second World War, the Nazis surrounded this village, took the men in small groups to various locations, the women and children to the church, at gunpoint, and proceeded to kill them all. It was a horrific attack, the details of which I will spare you. Suffice to say they killed 642 men, women and children that day. Then they set fire to all the buildings. After the war, it was decided that the village would be preserved in its ruined state, as a memorial to the victims and a warning to future generations. When ... more
