Dino Crisis 2 (PlayStation)

Considering the huge hype and critical acclaim that surrounded the original Dino Crisis, Dino Crisis 2 had a comparatively low-key release, but the difference between the two games is utterly striking. The first game was a close relative of the Resident Evil family of survival-horror games. One of the best descriptions of Jurassic Park I heard was from a friend of mine who killed it "Aliens Jr", and that's an image that stuck. Imagine my surprise when a few years later I come across a Playstation Game that does that description real justice. Dino Crisis 2 is, as I'm sure you were shrewd enough to figure out by now, a sequel to Dino Crisis, picking up on plot threads remaining from that game. I've just completed the game and I can tell you that Dino Crisis is one of the best, if not the best game I've ever played on. After playing the superb first game in this series, I simply had to go out and get myself the second. The only thing that stopped me buying the game the moment it came out was a lack of funds, but as soon as that spare £30 came my way, I found myself standing in the queue in Woolworth’s, game in hand.
