Advantages: online forms, not too complicated Disadvantages: very slow to hand over the cash!

The site was very easy to navigate and it only took about 20 minutes to fill out the online forms. After submission the loan was agreed, subject to proof of income. All we had to do was wait for them to send us the agreement. This was on the 16th April.
So two days later we received the agreement ... ...get the gist of it! After countless phonecalls, we called again this morning and was told that it was approved on Friday (thanks for telling us!!).
So, all's well that ends well, but if you're looking for some cash fast - don't bother with Direct Line! ... more
We had gone a bit mad with the credit cards and it looked as though they would never get paid off so we decided to see if we could get a loan to clear the whole lot up.

So two days later we received the agreement to sign and return along with our proof of income (this was the tricky bit as we're not very organised and had to hunt high and low for copies of payslips!). They require payslips for the last two months or a letter from your employer confirming your income, or original bank statements showing wages payments.
We then sent all this off a few days after and sat back to wait ..... and wait ..... and wait .... and wait!!!
After a week of not hearing anything we called them to see what was going on. "We just need to contact your employers to confirm your details" they told us, further into the conversation it turned out that they were calling my husbands employers to check on my details (!!!). So we left them alone for another week, but still nothing so we gave them a call back "we're having trouble contacting your employers", as far as I was concerned I knew this was complete twaddle as I was working for an employment agency at the time and there is no way that they wouldn't be there to answer the phone.
Anyway, I don't want to send you to sleep, I think you get the gist of it! After countless phonecalls, we called again this morning and was told that it was approved on Friday (thanks for telling us!!).

Having read how good their rates were I decided I would investigate myself.
One visit to the site and the 'on-line' calculator told me that I could afford the repayments for the loan I required, so the decision was made. This was mid-day Monday.
7pm Monday I received a call from a representative to discuss my application.
I was slightly alarmed when I was told that they could only look at the application based on my 'main' salary which would be ... ...lenders.
The response was received within minutes - good news - accepted!!
Next step surveyors - called Wednesday evening to arrange appointment - surveyed Thursday morning!
All went smoothly after that - paperwork was received from the solicitors by Monday and contracts received the following Friday.
2 weeks later (4 weeks for application date) the loan was drawn down and my remortgage completed on the date I had requested to fit in with paying ...

I have an account with HSBC and have been with them for over ten years now. Recently I needed to take a loan out for £2000 and started having a look on the Internet and comparing rates etc from companies like DirectLine. As it turned out, the money was suddenly needed urgently and I had two days to sort everything out and have the money ready in my account. I have never contacted my bank to enquire about loans and their interest rates, and I'm not sure exactly what made me phone them up this time. I'm always seeing ads in papers showing banks charging the highest rates for loans and how much you can save if you choose a finance company instead. This is what has always deterred me from even phoning up.
Anyway this time I did, and HSBC turned out to be one the of the best available lenders with the lowest rate. Not only that, but they ...

I have nearly everything insured with DirectLine, both our cars, our house and our life insurance. We also have DirectLine breakdown cover and home protection (if your boiler breaks down etc). They also provide a number of other products such as holiday insurance, pet insurance, loans and mortgages.
We have been with DirectLine Car Insurance for a total of 6 years. Their car insurance is very competitive and we have always found them to be the cheapest and the best for service. I really like the fact that I am only a second driver and I have 2 years no claims! I think they are the only insurance company that do this and I think this is the main reason (among others) for taking out car insurance with them.
DirectLine always offer good quotes and I think this is down to the fact that they are very careful with who they insure ...
Advantages: Internet Banking Disadvantages: Always trying to sell you something if you use the branch
I applied for a loan and was informed that Insurance on the loan was compulsory. Yet if you apply on-line you discover that this is not the case. The cheeky bleeders even lend you the insurance premium and charge you interest on this.
Now to the good points; and there are a few.
The Internet banking system is absolutely great. No more queues, no more automated phone services, no more assistants that make you feel as if you are drawing money from their account instead of your own.
I regularly pay direct debits, standing orders and transfer money between accounts on-line. You can apply for loans, credit cards, mortgages etc., and in the case of loans (from my experience) receive a speedy reply on-line. The paperwork is then forwarded for a signature and the money is placed in your account on receipt.
Your balance is in real ...
