Recently with all the home cleaning we have been doing I rediscovered one of my most valuable cleaning tools. Now you may ask how I rediscovered it? Really there is a simple answer to that question. I was cleaning and I found it! Lol!!!
At any rate I am glad that I found this little household tool because I had forgotten all of its uses. And making our cleaning jobs easier is a good thing!
Dirt DevilŽ Ultra
This is a very handy little vacuum because you can take it wherever you go inside the home or in your vehicle. In fact we have two of them. (I really did some cleaning to have found both of them!) One will stay in my Blazer so that when I am visiting somewhere and need something to do I can always clean it out! Or, if one of the children makes a mess I can use it for that purpose as well. I would suppose that it is great for campers as well!
Dirt DevilŽ Ultra hand held vac has a 4 amp power motor with twice the power of their original Dirt DevilŽ hand vac. It has a built in stretch hose and crevice tool. The hose will stretch for easy clean up in sofa’s, chairs and loveseats. The crevice tool is useful for cleaning in those
hard to reach places in your furniture or vehicle. But be careful and don’t pull the hose to far, you can cause it to crack over time!
There is a revolving brush for deep cleaning with a 2-speed switch with an extra long cord. This cord is nice because I don’t have to keep unplugging the vac and moving to another outlet. And you can store the cord with the handy strap found on the side of the unit. The revolving brush is very good for getting the dirt and dust from the cushions, back and sides of your furniture.
The model number is 8230 and it is the traditional red that only Dirt Devil has! Assembly is very easy of this unit. You simply put the hose into the opening on the nozzle found on the top right hand side and twist to align the tabs to lock. Then you insert the pointed end of the crevice tool into the hose for storage, turn it the opposite when you want to use it. And of course take it out when you want to use just the hose. There is a clip for the hose as well when you are not using it.
This unit comes with a bag option (bag type G) if you want to use it. I like this feature because I don’t have to clean the units bag out. I simple take the paper bag out and throw away when full.
There is also a belt (belt style 1), which is easy to change. All you do is remove the hose from the unit by rotating the cuff counter clockwise and lifting off. Then you rotate the cover and pull out and off. Take a Phillips screwdriver and remove the screw to release the plug on the nozzle, slide the nozzle down and out. Remove the belt from the motor shaft. Add the new belt, remember to twist it up and over the shaft!
Now to take the brush out you have to remove 2 more screws on the end cap and then lift off and pull the brush roll out. simply put on a new belt and close everything back up. Sounds like a lot of work but it’s not! It is good to keep the brush area cleaned.
There are instructions with pictures that will help you understand exactly what to do. Be sure and read these completely through!
When you want to use the hose attachment you simple turn the bottom of the unit where the roller will not turn. This is very easy to do. There are arrows on the unit to show you which direction to turn this feature. And of course you turn back for using the brush.
The unit is very lightweight and easy to handle. In fact, the handle of the unit is across the top and the on/off switch is located in the handle for easy usage. The unit is quiet as well. Which is very nice. And of course it comes with two speeds. (high and low).
Uses
The Dirt DevilŽ Ultra has many uses. Not only can you vacuum the furniture and use it in the vehicles but you also can use it to vacuum the drapes in your home. Either with the hose or in the brush position. I will take the crevice and dust across the top of the drapes, then turn to the brush position and run it down the front and back of the drapes. This can be a little aggravating to do at first, but once you get the hang of it it’s a breeze!
You can also use the crevice tool for going around the baseboards in the home, getting behind those hard to reach places behind the furniture, the refrigerator, behind the toilets, around the tub and shower and around the dinning room chairs, (if they are cushioned ones.)
It is also good for vacuuming out the windowsills, and not just at the bottom but also around the entire window! It is also good for getting around the hot waterheater and the air conditioner unit, you know where you have to change that nasty filter every once and while.
You can also use the crevice tool in the vehicle behind the foot pedals and down in the airvents on the top of the dashboard. Sometime stuff flies into those vents and I have found this vac easy to use in getting that stuff out! And many other hard to get to areas! And of course changing to the brush makes it easy for getting the floorboard, seats and trunk area. My husband has been known to take our Dirt DevilŽ Ultra and clean the air filter.
I have found many uses for this little vac around my home and in the vehicle. I am sure that there are some that I have missed! But over all the durability of the Dirt DevilŽ Ultra has been very good. I do bump it around a lot and it has taken it all!
You certainly want to be careful about picking up things that you shouldn’t with it though. Like those marbles that your son will leave behind! And of course any type of object such as coins, toys, etc. These type items will tear it up!
It is very easy to use and to convert from hose to brush. I have used it on the furniture and around the baseboards. And I simply take a cloth to dust it off with from time to time. It is easily stored in my closet or my husbands work space. And as I stated I keep the second one in the Blazer!
Cleaning around the fireplace is a breeze! They make great gifts through out the year. And I really think at all families should have at least one. My son likes to use it for me as well. And this is good because he is learning to clean as he goes!
You can find the bags and belts in local stores or you can order from Dirt DevilŽ directly. I recommend the stores, no s/h charges. You can find the unit on sale at local stores sometimes. Full price is around $40.00 depending on where you shop. So shop around for the best price. Both of mine were gifts.
I hope that this has helped in some kind of way!
God Bless!
