Good basic machine.

Advantages: Cheap. Does a good basic job.
Disadvantages: Not brilliant for heavy duty cleaning.

This dishwasher does the job. Nothing fancy, and it's not magic - really grimy things (like casserole dishes with baked on gunk) don't come out sparkling. It also is not great at washing things placed right at the edges, so I usually leave the last plate slot at each side empty. Having said that, it does a perfectly acceptable job of cleaning everyday dishes, and is mush better than having to wash and dry by hand! It is not an expensive machine, ...

I really like the dividing cover for the cutlery rack - it does a good job of keeping the cutlery separated so it gets clean and doesn't trap food and grime. This cover also flips up, so that bulkier objects (sharp knives, peelers etc) can be put in the rack. I usually have one side up, one side down. Toss away those marigolds and let the machine do the work

Advantages: Easy to use, cleans the dishes well and look neat and tidy
Disadvantages: none to speak of

...the price for this particular Hotpoint does seem to range quite dramatically, I have seen it advertised a price as low as £250 and as much as £350. Do You Like Our New SMEG, Ma?

Advantages: Very neat, quiet and washes well. Cuts environmental impact
Disadvantages: Would query the A rating for drying.
