Lovely shiny dishy washy Advantages: Really easy to use. Great performance. Cheap to run. Disadvantages: Bad installation instructions although not difficult to install. Simple to use... Turn the dial to Normal for the normal wash, turn it to Quick Wash for the quick wash. No stupid letters and numbers, just a dead obvious dial and an on/off button. LCD display tells you how long to wait until the wash will be done. If it looks too long, set it to "Half load" and the time drops. Quiet... It's not really whisper quiet - you can still hear it whirring away, but it's not especially noisy, just normal for a dishwasher. ... ...ones. Effective... It really does wash stuff really well. I'm impressed. It did a better job of cleaning than the old one, and the old one was ok. Plates come out totally dry. No rust or stains on cutlery. Features... You can set it to come on later on. So if you have economy seven you can put it on in the wee hours. You can also take the top basket out completely and put in a little spray attachment which comes with it. Splish splosh, its a Bosch Advantages: Low noise Disadvantages: Cutlery compartment is a bit inflexible and bendy ...well as performance and the Bosch came out on top. Tour of the Dishwasher Outside The dishwasher has a white metal door, with a white plastic control panel. On the control panel are the power button, the programme dial and 3 red lights for the water supply, a salt warning light and a rinse aid warning light. I will go into more detail about the programmes later. Inside The inside of the dishwasher is split into a lower deck ... ...results out of the dishwasher, Bosch recommend that you use salt and rinse aid with each wash. These items are simple to top up. The salt goes in a compartment under the lower deck. Simply unscrew the cap and pour in the salt via the provided funnel until it starts to overflow. At this point screw the cap back on tightly and you are ready to go. Bosch SMS50E02GB dishwasher. Advantages: See review. Disadvantages: None. My easy to open wallet strikes again, this time in the form of a dishwasher. Although, this one was more necessary, my old one was sort of falling to bits (literally). Look and Design Nothing too fancy, it's a white box with an opening door and some buttons on said door, exactly what you would expect a dishwasher to look like. It's of a reasonable size, being 84.5 cm high, 60 cm wide and 60 cm deep, and easily fits into my kitchen, which is ... ...It is very easy to use, all the buttons are pretty much self explanatory as are the program modes which are Prerinse, Quick Wash 45°C, Economy 50°C, Auto Daily 45°C-65°C and Intensive 70°C. It also has a really useful half load button, so if you need some stuff washed but you haven't managed to fill the dishwasher, you can use this, it's quicker and apparently uses less water. Dishwasher fire Advantages: Good. basic model Disadvantages: Risk of Fire ! We bought the ZDF 501 2 years ago, and its worked fine. However, 2 nights ago, the dishwasher control panel caught fire about 5 minutes into a wash cycle. Fortunately we were able to put out the fire within seconds of smelling smoke, but the flames were already quite big, and molten plastic from the dishwasher had started a secondary fire on our kitchen floor. Beko DWD4310S dishwasher - good, affordable option Advantages: Quiet, fast wash option, good looking Disadvantages: Height of top rack, occasional failure of drawer to properly release washing tablet We bought this dishwasher because we wanted an afforable "stop gap" before getting our new kitchen fitted with an integrated model. It therefore does not have as many options (e.g. delay timer etc) as some of the more expensive options but it has been perfect for our needs. It has been a great buy..it is quiet and has a fast economy wash option that only takes half an hour . There is plenty of room in the bottom drawer for cutlery and plates and ... ...We bought the silver version as we preferred the look of it to the white one and it does look smart in the kitchen, although it seemed a bit "plasticy" when it first arrived. There are minimal controls, making it very easy to use, and there is a useful salt container indicator which is easy to see, showing when more salt is needed. The only disadvantages are that pint glasses don't fit on the top rack easily (often falling over during the cycle) ...
