Do You Like Our New SMEG, Ma? Advantages: Very neat, quiet and washes well. Cuts environmental impact Disadvantages: Would query the A rating for drying. ...the first place. The SMEG had the lot, and despite still being £299* after being reduced by 50 quid was what we went for in the end. It was also the only stainless steel-fronted one on show. * If I recall correctly, this is still less than we paid 9 years ago. It goes without saying, that, despite being a vast 'warehouse' Currys, it wasn't actually in stock apart from the demo model, but to be fair, the delivery was well handled and with plenty ... ...other for drying. The SMEG officially passes all three with flying colours. A lot of sceptics poo-poo the idea that dishwashers can be eco-friendly possibly more so than hand-washing, but since they can work with water hotter than you could yourself stand, there is less need for so much soap/detergent. Most modern washers only get through 20-odd litres of water per wash, even for a full '12-place setting' load, which I suspect is a damned sight ... Do not buy Advantages: Looks great Disadvantages: Too many to mention.... ...not be tempted by this machines good looks. You will be horrified at it's performance. Super quiet dishwasher. Advantages: Very quick and quiet Disadvantages: Trays not as well designed as they could be. We have a built in version of this dishwasher and it has been very easy to install and set up. The controls are very simple and on this version are accessible when the door is open. This is useful for hiding the fact that it is a dishwasher but can be fiddly at some points. It is very quiet and quick during a wash. The only problem I have is with the tray system, the slots are not wide enough for deep bowls and other more bulky items. And the mugs ... ...as the Bosch I had before. This has meant that they are not as clean as they could be as well as moving around when the trays are pushed and pulled around. You can get quite a bit into the trays which saves water and electricity. Good but not great Advantages: Looks good Disadvantages: Denby plates do not fit well ...fit more in it. This Smeg does clean ok - as long as you don't overload it at all. If you really want a black appliance then this is worth it, if you just want a really good cleaning machine, which you can pack full of dishes and pans then perhaps this shouldn't be your first choice. SMEG DD612S - A quality appliance Advantages: Good build quality, clean appearance, positive and simple controls Disadvantages: Manual is a little amateur ...stainless steel with an embossed SMEG logo. Exterior Control panel as above. The door comes ready to accept your chosen kitchen door panel and is supplied with fixings and an adjustable trim to allow different door sizes to be fitted to match the surrounding door heights (important for creating that integrated look). Interior Stainless steel with dark grey basket drawers. Basket drawers have an array of flaps, racks and cutlery baskets. Operation ... ...mode seems to gets most things shiny so that's we one we use! The appliance has a quality beep (not the squeaky strangled one you get on cheap appliances - it's a man thing!) for programme start and stop.
