Disklok, the name sums it up, you know what to expect. The device is large, painted hi-viz yellow, and more of a deterrent because it can be seen from a long way off. It cannot easily be removed wihout the key. It is a sign of the times that this firm spells DISK with a K, it is also a sign of the times that these items are a must, as so many alarms are ignored, and other steering wheel locks are simply removed by bending the wheel.

I did say that they come in Hi-viz yellow, this is true, but you can now get them in titanium silver & black as well as chrome & black if you prefer. They are approved by Thatcham (category 3) and are marketed as "THE STRONGEST AND MOST EFFECTIVE FULL COVER STEERING WHEEL LOCK IN THE WORLD".

I suppose one thing worthy of note, is the fact that it does take up a lot of space when not in use, this may be a problem, and if it ends up in the boot, then it won't actually get used, so not a lot of good then. They do come with a storage case. They are available in three sizes, and not only stop the car being stolen, they also protect the airbag from theft, something which is catching on. The situation being that while radios, CD players, and the modern MP3 players all come pin number protected, your airbags are easier to steal and have no such security.

The smallest ones (and therefore lightest) weigh 3.8 Kilos, and the inside is covered with a velvet type material to protect your wheel. You get three keys to start with, although you can get more if required. The device is covered by a three year guatantee.

Auto Express made this an award winner in the years 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004, and Revs Car magazine declared this the Best Buy in 2001 & 2002. What Car? magazine did the same for the years 2000, 2003 & 2005. Construction is all steel. The recommended retail price of the small ones, is a massive £69.99.but we know we can get them much cheaper than that. Even Argos have them for less than £55.

Heavy Metal Protection Keeps Cowboys Away
Review of Disklok by jamez

Advantages: Thatcham Approved, Visual Deterrent, Best in its class.
Disadvantages: Heavy and expensive

Website -------- http://www.disklok.com What it is? ----------- It is a steering wheel security device. How much is it? --------------- I purchased mine at Halfords for 80 pounds. I haven't found it on the internet and this seemed strange - anyone any ideas where to look? Why is it so special ---------------------- 1. It is the only selling steering wheel device which covers the entire steering wheel. 2. It is Thatcham approved 3. They ...
...What I think ------------- I think its great, normally they come in a very bright yellow, just like the single bar crook locks however mine is in a stylish silver and matches my car. Maybe this detracts from the deterrent feature a little but as it covers the entire steering wheel I don't find it a problem. It is heavy and sometimes a little difficult to maneuver, particularly if the two halves come open before I want them to. Once you've mastered ... Read review

Try to rip this off
Review of Disklok by dizzych

Advantages: Best way to protect your loved ones
Disadvantages: Heavy and large in size

...At first i thought the disklok was really heavy and sluggish. I was ensured by the chap behind the counter that if it was really light and flimsy it would be alot easier to get off. Secondly, when i put the disklok on, it didnt seem to fit like the others you can buy. I went back and told him it didnt fit. Again i was corrected. The fact that it doesnt fit properly and spins around on the steering wheel is actually a safety and security feature. ...
...the lock on. With the disklok this is not the case. As it doesnt fit properly if you try to move the steering wheel with it on, the disklok simply spins round in your hand, thus not being able to steer the vehicle. There is an added bonus of an arm sticking out at the side. If you even try to drive with this fitted, either your leg gets in the way or you smash your windscreen. As the whole steering wheel is totally covered it is impossible to remove ... Read review

If like me your car is your prize-possesion you wash and clean it every weekend all you want is a member of the light fingered brigade to come along and nick it. Wheely good anti-car theft device.
Review of Disklok by Rabid

Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: Quite heavy but thats to be expected

...want a Disklok. The Disklok is a very high visual anti-car theft device that fits neatly over your steering wheel and clamps shut very securely in a matter of just seconds, thats not all, the Disklok will rotate around your steering wheel as there is around 1/2 a cm of clearance around the lock so as to make steering your car impossible to anyone wanting to push your car away down a darkened alley to attempt to try and remove the Disklok, this will ...
...would be thieves. The Disklok is made of hardened steel with no plastic components and has an anti-drill/pick lock which has been extensively tested by Thatcham and approved by them to the highest standards of car security, so who are Thatcham? well Thatcham are a company that rate car security products based upon how effective they are and there opinion is widely acknowledged by most insurance companies and therefore can help to reduce your car ...
