Wheely good anti-car theft device.
Advantages Everything
Disadvantages Quite heavy but thats to be expected
Do you own a car? if so then you want a Disklok.
The Disklok is a very high visual anti-car theft device that fits neatly over your steering wheel and clamps shut very securely in a matter of just seconds, thats not all, the Disklok will rotate around your steering wheel as there is around 1/2 a cm of clearance around the lock so as to make steering your car impossible to anyone wanting to push your car away down a darkened alley to attempt to try and remove the Disklok, this will also make breaking your steering lock and/or removing your steering wheel almost impossible for any would be thieves. The Disklok is made of hardened steel with no plastic components and has an anti-drill/pick lock which has been extensively tested by Thatcham and approved by them to the highest standards of car security, so who are Thatcham? well Thatcham are a company that rate car security products based upon how effective they are and there opinion is widely acknowledged by most insurance companies and therefore can help to reduce your car insurance costs, to learn more about Thatcham please visit their official website here...
http://www.thatcham.org/index.htmThe Disklok comes in 2 different colours, bright yellow and silver, there are no differences between the 2 products other than their actual colour.
You get 3 keys supplied with the Disklok which is always nice should you happen to lose one and there is a 3 year guarentee with this product. So just how effective is the Disklok? well like i said earlier it is Thatcham approved so this means it does its job very well indeed, the Disklok is the winner of many awards most notably 'What car secuirty winner 2003' and 'Auto express winner 2001,2002,2003'.
In tests carried out by expert ex-convicted car thieves (with all manor of hi-tech tools pre-chosen by them that the average car thief wouldnt possibly be able to carry around with them) the Disklok withstood extreme vigorous attacking for over 18 mins and one can only imagine the noise that was created during this time, basically this is a very good anti-theft device for your car, Thatcham dont apply their full recomendation to just any old product, if 18 mins dont sound very long to you then just remember that these guys were expert car thieves who had the very best tools at their disposal not to mention they didnt have the problem of not being heard as these tests were scientifically carried out under strict supervision and fully authorised, standard crooklocks were removed within as little as 20 seconds in some cases under the same conditions by the same people. The Disklok has been designed to fit most cars and comes in 3 different sizes (small 35 - 39cms, medium 39 - 41.5cms and large 41.5 - 44cms).
The Disklok is so heavily constructed that the product is quite heavy (3.8 kilos) and storage is a small problem, i tend to leave mine on my backseat whilst driving or in the boot if i have rear passengars, it quite literally takes a matter of 10 seconds to both fit/remove the Disklok yourself.'I have an immobiliser do i still need the Disklok?'
Well yes, several reasons really, immobiliers are electrical and rely solely on your cars battery, No electrical immobiliser will stop your car from being pushed down the road only to have the bonnet popped and the immobiliser ripped out, also the Disklok is a visual detterent, its almost impossible not to notice it and many thieves will simply think twice and just walk away.If i were a car thief and i saw 2 Nissan Micras in a street, one with a Disklok fitted and one with a standard crooklock then i know which car i would target to steal, when you look at it from this perspective then you know it makes sense to buy the Disklok for your pride and joy.
I paid £75 for my Disklok from Halfords, if you shop around you may find cheaper, but to me £75 is nothing when were talking about the difference between seeing my car again when i wake up each day.To read more about the Disklok please visit their website located here...

Very useful review. Use to use a handbrake lock till someone told me they could be easily sawn through.
I'm always in too much of a hurry to put one of these on - more fool me, I know! Jane x
