I have been a fan of High School Musical since the beginning. I'm not a huge fan , I don't have a HSM pencil case or pillow , and neither do I have posters of the cast , but I do admit to enjoying the film , even if it is said to be aimed at those slightly younger than myself. When I heard HSM 3 : Senior Year was out in the cinemas , I didn't exactly rush to the cinema to see it, it just happened. My friend and I went to the cinema the other night , just for the fun of it. We hadn't really planned on watching a particular movie , we just planned to see what was on when we got to the cinema. There wasn't really much that caught our eyes as we had either seen it or it didn't interest us. The only movie we hadn't seen which we were quite happy to watch was High School Musical 3 : Senior year.
High School Musical 3 : Senior Year is the third movie in the HSM series. The movie was released in the United Kingdom on October 22nd 2008. The film was directed by Kenny Ortega and stars all of the original cast including
; Zac Efron , Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale. Running time of the movie is 113 minutes. There are eighteen songs in this movie.
In this HSM , as the title suggests ; the gang are more mature. They are facing a tough decision on which path to take. It also means that the friends will have to split up when they go to different colleges. Drama Teacher , Miss Darbus is once again organising a 'musicale'. Surprised that no one has signed up to participate in the show, she comes up with the idea of Sharpay doing her own show , starring just her. Kelsi , who is writing the show is alarmed at this and so gets the whole class together to take part in the show, so that Sharpay doesn't get the main and only part. When Miss Darbus hears this she has another idea : that the class should do a musical about their last year of school. Will this show be a success ? What will happen to the gang when the school bell rings for the final time ? Watch HSM 3 : Senior Year to find out!
My friend and I both really enjoyed this movie. As I had enjoyed the previous two films I knew that I would enjoy this one and was secretly hoping that it would be better than the first two. It was great to see how the cast have matured and how the films have developed. This film was also easy to get into which was a bonus as I hate films that take ages to get to the point. I would say that this film is aimed more at teenagers rather than young children as it has a more 'mature' and 'dark' feel to it. I also think that some children may find the plot rather confusing. This movie is just as cheesy as the other two movies , but it is still enjoyable and fun to watch. I also think that this film was quite funny in places , even when it wasn't meant to be. My friend and I couldn't stop laughing at the scene where Troy and Vanessa are 'waltzing'. One thing I found with this movie was how much the cast have improved , not just their acting , but their singing and dancing too. They sound and look so much better now! I enjoyed some of the songs , but I don't think they are as good as the songs in the first movie (I don't think the songs in the second film were as good as the first either!) I think this movie is more about the songs as it contains a lot more songs than the previous two , and also they seem to 'burst in to song' a lot more frequently in HSM3.
The dancing in HSM3 was the best out of the whole three movies. It was electric. The cast looked like professional dancers - that's how good they were! This film is also really energetic! This movie is quite emotional as it is the last one with the original cast. I had an idea! I think they should have used this movie as the second one , and the second movie could have been like 'after leaving school' High School Musical , because in the second film they don't spend that much time in school.
Another criticism I have is how this movie creates a 'perfect life' yet of course no one really has lives like the ones in this movie. Yet , of course it is good to daydream!
If I'm honest I don't think it is that necessary to have seen the previous two films as the story is simple to pick up and characters easy to get to know. Although seeing the first two movies does give you a better insight as to what the movie is about. On the other hand though , I found that because I had seen the other two films I knew what to expect and was hoping it would be as good as the other two. I somewhat felt that because I had seen the other films , that I knew a bit too much about the characters and so I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have. I think that if this is the first HSM movie you are going to see ,you will enjoy it more as it is all new and therefore you won't know what to expect.
I would recommend this film to all children and teenagers! (and even some adults!) Hopefully it will be out on DVD by Christmas!
Thanks For Reading November 20th 2008 Xdonzx

Good review, but unfortunately in the book category instead of the DVD one. Let me know if this gets moved and I'll rate as appropriate.

After taking a careful look this looks as though you posted in the wrong place, this appears to be the book category and everything points towards the film in your review, let me know if you get it moved and I will rerate :¬) James
