My five year old loves anything disney, be it snow white, bambi, mickey mouse. She demands to watch at least one disney cartoon a day....yes demands!! And we all know what happens if a five year olds demands are not met....utter chaos!
She actually owns a lot of disney clothing and when I had a proper look earlier I shocked myself. T shirts, pyjamas, wellington boots, you name it! Even her new school bag is the little mermaid (apparently winnie the pooh was for babies, so her little brother got lumped with that bag.
**Purchase**
As I do every christmas, I purchase new nightwear for the kids and ourselves for christmas eve. New pyjames, slippers and dressing gowns. Its the little things...! So while browsing on ebay for ideas I came across a pink minnie the mouse dressing gown. I liked the idea of minnie the mouse as it is very girly and I know Sophie would love it. But I didn't really like this particular one. Didn't have the wow factor. (Never thought I'd hear myself say that about my five year olds clothing but there you go). So off I set to search out other minnie the mouse pyjamas and dressing gowns.
I trawled through ebay and amazon to no avail, when a friend told me to try disneystore.co.uk. Bingo! I came across this black and white polka dotted robe for £24.00 plus delivery. I didn't have an account with this website so immediately set one up, which took all of five minutes. Size wise there weren't many options, from 12-18 months up to 5-6 (which was actually out of stock). I went for the 3-4 years as Sophie is quite small in build anyway and I usually get this size. They promised delivery in five working days so obviously I forgot completely about it by then.....
**The robe**
It was delivered in 4 days which I thought was great as usually companies like that can take up to ten days. I always have problems with amazon deliveries so got a nice surprise. Somebody else though, got an even bigger surprise...
I gave it to Sophie straight away to try out and see if it fit etc. I took it out of the plastic to find it looked exactly as it had in the picture, althoug quite small. It was white with black polka dots, and pictures of minnie scattered throughout. The hood was attahced to it with a red bow placed on top, just like Minnie herself. It had a bright yellow tie around the middle which relly stood out and looked great on it. I hadn't seen this in the picture so it was a nice surprise. It has two pockets with a flower sewed on each. Great for storing a little girls essentials you know :) :)
It is apparently 100% cotton (the tag told me so) and is extremely soft and fleecy to touch. The sleeves are long and baggy and the gown comes to Sophies thighs. It was slightly small on her but not noticeably small, she may grow out of it quickly. She didn't take it off for about a week so when I did wash it I made sure to put it in a delicate spin in case it shrunk.
**My Opinion**
I love the gown. Its soft, warm and looks great on her. The only downfalls would be the price and the size. At £24.99 it isnt cheap. But as disney clothing goes, it is fairly reasonable. It is slightly small on her but I did get the 3-4 size, and she is 5. She usually gets these sizes but I would buy bigger so that the child wont grow out of it quickly and you get your moneys worth! It washes well, hasnt shrunk but is definitely not as soft as it once was.
**Sophie's opinion**
She absolutely adores it. She wears the hood up so the bow will sit upon her head, 'just like minnie'. If she is cold during the day, on goes the robe. She wanted to wear it to school one day but I had to draw the line. Overall a great purchase because she is so happy with it and thats all that counts at the end of the day.
