LOCATION
Disney Store has an ideal location on one of the busiest streets in the centre of York. The name of the street is Parliament Street. The Disney Store is almost opposite the fountains!
OPENING HOURS
I couldn’t actually find a sign stating the opening times of the store but all shops around it open at 9am and close at 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 11am – 5pm on Sunday so I can only guess that Disney Store would do the same.
STORE LAYOUT
The Disney Store is an ideal shop for adults/kids and babies alike. However this is not reflected in the layout of the shop. I was visiting with my daughter in a pushchair and found it very difficult to get round the store without hitting shelves and other customers (sorry if that was you). It is only a small shop for the range of merchandise it has. I have been in other Disney Stores (White Rose Centre, Leeds) that sell the same products in almost twice the size shop.
MERCHANDISE AVAILABLE
The range of merchandise that the Disney Store sells is almost limitless. From teddies and toys to videos and clothes. Anything anyone wishes for whether old or young. For kids there was a great range of swimwear, t-shirts shorts and fancy dress outfits and for adults there was a range of clothing including t-shirts and nightwear. Socks/wallets/purses/umbrellas etc. could all be found. The store had all the latest releases of DVDs, videos and CDs and they were taking pre-orders for Jungle Book 2. They also had pens, pencils, drawing things, plastic toys etc for kids and collectable such as figurines and money boxes. Tickets for all the major theme parks can also be booked at the Disney Store.
PRICES/QUALITY
The day I visited the store was part of the summer sale so I picked up some good bargains on t-shirts for my daughter. Well, when I say bargains they were the price I would expect to pay in full at any other store. Disney Store is expensive. I must admit I usually only buy presents there. The quality of items is reflective on the price as it is high quality merchandise.
RETURNS POLICY
From what I can gather the returns policy at Disney Store has recently changed. The lady in front of me was having quite a heated debate with the shop assistant about their new 30-day returns policy which is obviously strictly enforced.
SALES ASSISTANTS
Not only did the difficulty in getting around the store send my blood pressure soaring it was also the lack of staff. The store was packed and yet I could only see 4 members of staff. One was front of house so to speak tiding up as people moved around the store (not really keeping up to it either), one was taking tags off coat hangers, one going very slowly on the checkout and what seemed to be the Store Manager chatting on the phone. At one point there were 12 people in the queue ( by this time I knew I’d be writing an op so took in all the details) which zigzagged round the store and it wasn’t until a member of the public suggested hat they open another till (4 available) that they realised the queue had grown! The staff certainly needed a bit of zipperdeedoodah!!!
My blood pressure had reached boiling point by the time I left the store but I am a big fan of Disney so it was all worthwhile.

That pretty much sums up my experiences of the Disney shop too.
Still you can always vote with your feet and do your bit to stop the exploitation of 3rd world countries for the manufacture of these goods.
Blimey that's a bit controversial!

Good op, and I totally agree with you! I've given up going to the Disney store cos it's always overcrowded, they cram too much on the shelves so it all falls on you, and the staff couldn't seem to care less how long you have to wait in the queue for. Well written :0)

I love The Disney Store, but things are expensive. The sales have lots of bargains though.
