Dinosaur (Disney) (2000) [DVD]

Dinosaur (Disney) (2000) [DVD]

Dinosaurs come alive like never before in this costly computer-animated film from Disney. ... more

After a breathtaking opening (a dino egg is
kidnapped), the film changes style; realistic
dinosaurs are given human characteristics and
voices. The kidnapped egg grows into an iguanodon
named Aladar (voiced by DB Sweeney), who is raised
by lemurs (shades ofTarzan) on a lush island void
of other dinosaurs. When a meteorite destroys
their island home in a thrilling sequence, the
lemur family and Aladar become part of a dinosaur
troop roaming the mainland deserts looking for the
lush nesting grounds (shades of the fourth
instalment of theLand Before Timeseries
andFantasia). Disney's use of cheeky modern slang
(one lemur calls himself "a love monkey") is
present, as is its typical capital-punishment
narrative logic: anyone against our
forward-thinking hero (or even disagreeing with
him) ends up dead. Curiously, the meanies, a pair
of carnotaurs following the group, are nameless
and voiceless. This more realistic approach might
have been a bigger wow, as in the BBC'sWalking
with Dinosaurs, which looked extraordinary with
only a fraction of the budget. The complexity and
scope ofDinosaur's visual scale is impressive, and
group shots and a point-of-view angle are
stunning. The film should be a favourite for the 6
to 11-year-old set. --Doug Thomas, Amazon.com

Disney's Dinosaur

Advantages: Realistic, brings the dinosaurs to life, brilliant effects
Disadvantages: None

Disney's Dinosaur Disney's cinematical genius has come to life once again, this time in the form of dinosaurs. A magical children's film that kids will love to watch time and time again. The film sees Aladar (an iguanodon) go from an endangered egg to a cute little baby brought up by lemurs on a remote island away from other dinosaurs. There he grows up and becomes friend and protector to the lemur family. Until one day a strange thing comes upon their safe island destroying everything in its path that they have ever known. Aladar takes the lemurs to safety where they join a herd of other dinosaurs travelling to a safe breeding ground with plentiful food and water, the other dinosaurs having suffered the same fate as themselves. I won't describe anymore of the story line as it may spoil the film for those who have not yet ...

Walt disney Dinosaur

Advantages: Great movie for kids
Disadvantages: None that i can think of

What can i say, i took me ages to hunt down this dvd for my twin girls, they love dinosaurs but i must admit i love the film too, so its a good excuse when the girls want to watch it. Its rated as a PG and the running time is 79 mins. Its all about 65 millions years ago when dinosaurs rules the earth, and you get to meet Aladar an iguanodon which is separated from his herb as an egg when another dinosaur attacks them. He is tossed about every where across land and water when he finally comes to rest near some Lemurs. They raise him as there own and amazingly he fits in really well. Then out of the sky come a metoer and all flee for there lifes, only a few survive, Along his journey to find new nesting grounds they meet up with other dinosaurs also in search of new lands. Although the journey is treacherous he finds ...

Review of Dinosaur (Animated) (DVD)

Disney's Dinosaur is a roaring sucess

Advantages: The advantages of this film is it enables you to step back in time and see what these dinosaurs may have looked like. It also lets you see what incredible things you can produce with todays technology.
Disadvantages: Some scenes are in the dark and you may not be able to see whats going on.

From a very young age I have always loved dinosaurs. I am now 16 and I still got excited when I heard 'Dinosaur' was coming out on video. I bought it as soon as I could and I don't regret it one bit. 'Dinosaur' is an adventure set back 65 million years in time. It is the story of a young Igaunadon named Aladar who, from birth, is adopted by a family of lemurs. Their island is destroyed by a meteor and so they are forced to join a herd of dinosaurs on a voyage across the harsh desert to reach the safety of the nesting grounds. All the way they are being driven on by the merciless leader Kron and they are follwed by a pair of menacing Carnotaurs. This adventure is full of hope, despair and courage and will remain in one of the Disney's classics. Now onto the effects. The effects make the film. The dinosaurs in the film ...
