other Dinosaurs. Well Ubisoft'sDisney's Dinosaurtries to offer you just that, in what is unfortunately a watered down version of the movie experience. With 12 levels, interspersed with CGI footage from the movie, each level has a certain number of objectives that have to be completed before the player can progress in this role-playing style game. The levels, which are quite straightforward, usually involve finding an object and then getting it from A to B and it is therefore fair to say, that this game is squarely aimed at a younger generation. There are three controllable characters, to help you on your journey, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, and each with the ability to increase their skills and strengths by defeating the local dinosaur population en route to achieving the set objectives. This role playing element ofDisney's Dinosauris one of the more interesting aspects of a game that lacks the imagination of the film. Couple this with a fiddly control system, and you end up with a game that is suited more to the younger gamer, than the gamer who thinks they are young at heart. --Michael Bartley

Dinosaurs come alive like never before in this costly computer-animated film from Disney. ... more
After a breathtaking opening (a dino egg is kidnapped), the film changes style; realistic dinosaurs are given human characteristics and voices. The kidnapped egg grows into an iguanodon named Aladar (voiced by DB Sweeney), who is raised by lemurs (shades ofTarzan) on a lush island void of other dinosaurs. When a meteorite destroys their island home in a thrilling sequence, the lemur family and Aladar become part of a dinosaur troop roaming the mainland deserts looking for the lush nesting grounds (shades of the fourth instalment of theLand Before Timeseries andFantasia). Disney's use of cheeky modern slang (one lemur calls himself "a love monkey") is present, as is its typical capital-punishment narrative logic: anyone against our forward-thinking hero (or even disagreeing with him) ends up dead. Curiously, the meanies, a pair of carnotaurs following the group, are nameless and voiceless. This more realistic approach might have been a bigger wow, as in the BBC'sWalking with Dinosaurs, which looked extraordinary with only a fraction of the budget. The complexity and scope ofDinosaur's visual scale is impressive, and group shots and a point-of-view angle are stunning. The film should be a favourite for the 6 to 11-year-old set. --Doug Thomas, Amazon.com

Advantages: Realistic, brings the dinosaurs to life, brilliant effects Disadvantages: None
Disney's DinosaurDisney's cinematical genius has come to life once again, this time in the form of dinosaurs. A magical children's film that kids will love to watch time and time again.
The film sees Aladar (an iguanodon) go from an endangered egg to a cute little baby brought up by lemurs on a remote island away from other dinosaurs. There he grows up and becomes friend and protector to the lemur family.
Until one day a strange thing comes upon their safe island destroying everything in its path that they have ever known.
Aladar takes the lemurs to safety where they join a herd of other dinosaurs travelling to a safe breeding ground with plentiful food and water, the other dinosaurs having suffered the same fate as themselves.
I won't describe anymore of the story line as it may spoil the film for those who have not yet ...

From a very young age I have always loved dinosaurs. I am now 16 and I still got excited when I heard 'Dinosaur' was coming out on video. I bought it as soon as I could and I don't regret it one bit.
'Dinosaur' is an adventure set back 65 million years in time. It is the story of a young Igaunadon named Aladar who, from birth, is adopted by a family of lemurs. Their island is destroyed by a meteor and so they are forced to join a herd of dinosaurs on a voyage across the harsh desert to reach the safety of the nesting grounds. All the way they are being driven on by the merciless leader Kron and they are follwed by a pair of menacing Carnotaurs. This adventure is full of hope, despair and courage and will remain in one of the Disney's classics.
Now onto the effects. The effects make the film. The dinosaurs in the film ...
