I went to Disneyland Paris last year just before Christmas. In total there were 4 adults and 4 children ranging from 4 to 10 months. I was really looking forward to it as I thought at this time of the year it would be magical and we were staying on site at the Davy Crocket Ranch which would make it extra special.
We went by Ferry which the children loved. My son was 22 months old and loved the excitement of going on a ferry. When we reach France we then had a 4 hour journey to get to the park which seemed to last forever. If you can afford I would fly as it would take a lot of the stress out of the journey.
We stayed in a cabin on the Davy Crocket ranch and was expecting something special as it was Disney. I was sadly let down. I know it was the budget accomadation but with Disney comes certain expectations. The furniture was basic which wasn't a problem but it was very tired and looked like it could have done with a bit of paint. There wer doorhandles missing on cupboard doors with the nails sticking out ( which is not ideal with as young a children as we had). In the bathroom there was a big hole at the bottom of the wall!!! The sofa turned into a bed but it was unusable really because everytime you moved or rolled over it made such a noise that it kept every one awake.
The park itself is as magical as you would expect. The rides are great and lots for all ages. The main problem in the park is the queueing times. Even for the small children's ones there was a 3/4 of an hour wait which was a nightmare with our son.
The parades are a must and should not be missed. Our son was awestruck by them and loved the music and floats. Throughout the day there are various characters throughout the park that you can meet. We bought an autograph book as soon as we got there and as we saw a character we got their signature. We then took a picture of the charcter and stuck it in the autograph book next to their signature. A lovely keepsake
We had paid in advance for Tea With Mickey. When we came to book a place we were told that it was full. Apparently just because you booked it when you booked the holiday does not mean you are guarenteed a place. You also can't book a place for the next day, you have to take pot luck. Eventually with some 'gentle' persuasion they let us go to it that day. When we got there there were empty tables!!! and Mickey did not appear which really upset the kids.
All in all it was a mixed bunch. I certainly would not go at that time of year again as it was absolutely freezing but I would go back. You just have to realise that it won't be quite like disney film.

Good review. It reinforces my opinion that you really need to go to the US to see theme parks run properly. Richard aka Beaker
